Alabama's Josh Ford Hopes To Play vs. Georgia Just Six Days After Surgery On Broken Arm

USA TODAY Network via Reuters Connect
Alabama starting tight end Josh Ford suffered a broken arm during Saturday's 56-23 win over Mississippi State but is hoping to play against No. 2 Georgia this weekend, according to ESPN.
Ford underwent surgery Sunday, just six days before the Crimson Tide's highly anticipated matchup with the Bulldogs.
Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer provided an update on Ford during Wednesday's SEC teleconference.
"He's determined to get on the football field," DeBoer said. "Actually progressing along fairly well right now. We'll kind of see how the week continues for him."
"We're optimistic," DeBoer added.
Ford, who transferred from Oklahoma State during the offseason, has been a key contributor to Alabama's rushing attack with his physical blocking.
If Ford is unable to play, Alabama could turn to Jay Lindsey and Marshall Pritchett at tight end.
Ford was listed as questionable on Wednesday's initial SEC availability report.
