It took ten years to go from $20T to $40T. As obligations and the population grow, that number will snowball quickly. Prices have risen about 39% in those ten years. They’ll rise even more with ever more diminishing productivity. The U.S. is headed for some very bad times.

What will it take for us to repudiate the debt, or for serious secession movements to start?

There isn’t a politician in government that takes the debt seriously

As long as the US can print money and remains the number one power in the world, there is no consequence for the debt on a global scale.

Internally, this will cause unrest as it erodes the middle class. Welfare recipients will continue to have buying power due to their increased benefits. Workers will continue to feel the pinch, but their numbers are increasingly diminished. The elite will continue to feel no impact because costs are passed to the subsidized government consumer and not the middle class.

This is what they want. They want to remove the upward mobility of individual Americans. The American dream is dead.

If the Dems ever get control of all 3 branches of government again in the very near future then we will hit 100 trillion in debt in half that time.

The national debt exceeded $38 trillion in February 2026, as the federal government's debt continues to grow.

Republican presidents have added slightly more to the national debt per term than Democratic presidents.

Republican presidents added about $1.4 trillion per four-year term, compared to $1.2 trillion added by Democrats since 1913.

If the Dems take back control of all 3 branches of government then they will have all these socialist spending money the likes of which we never seen before. Green New Deal, Medicare for all, taking care of illegals, the hole 9 yards.

I say taking back control of all 3 branches of government because the first thing they do on day one is end the filibuster and pack the court. Just as soon as that happens and the terrible judges they pick are sworn in there won’t be anyone or anything to stop them.

Bessent just intervened in yen and bond markets and there is a lot of speculation the energy markets are being manipulated. Whatever this system is is flashing red right now.

Lol. The debt will forever hang over us like the sun or moon. It's best to just accept it.

The United States government paid off the national debt under Andrew Jackson and it caused an economic collapse.

Kinda makes one wonder why so many Republicans themselves or other rightists insist on being Trump’s harshest critics and ill-wishers. Sort of leads me to believe those of that description, in spite of believing they’re the smartest people in the room are actually the dumbest people in the room, considering what could very possibly be in store. Would seem that we need to squeeze as much action out of Trump as possible.

If the Dems win control of Congress and the WH it will be over. They will go all in and will not hold back. They are not hiding anymore. Every liberal and progressive fantasy that has ever been mentioned by them will be on the table. Like I said once they take control of the court there will be no turning back.
