Sure. But why isolate Russia?

You pick your friends.

Russia picked NK, China, Iran, India, Syria, and Cuba.

We picked Japan, Australia, SK, NATO etc.

We offered Russia opportunities to make nice, but they had other ideas.

Care to explain how this territory, in question, became Ukrainian, to begin with?

Who is isolating Russia in this case?

We are. Fore example we won't let Russia sell gas to Europe so we blow up their pipeline.

I'd want it too if the U.S. was paying for most of my national defense.

It was ceded to Ukraine/the Ukrainian SSR by the Russian Empire/Soviet Union, in separate pieces over the last couple of centuries.

Does Germany get to demand that France give Strasbourg back? Can Japan just unilaterally occupy the Kuril islands and tell Russia "too bad, this land was ours at some point in history, you have to give it back?"

They declared independence from the Soviet Union in 1991 when the Soviet Union collapsed

Do you really not know this?

This occurred after the invasion. How did the United States isolate Russia into invading Ukraine?

Right. So the members want it to exist. Why do you oppose sovereign entities consensually joining defensive alliances?

No one is forced to be a member of NATO.

Ukraine was a state inside the USSR. When the USSR broke up Ukraine gained its independence. Russia was on board eith the change, and even signed documents saying they would protect their sovereignty.

We get along with China and India just fine. The Trump admin got along with NK and the Biden admin is getting along with Iran.

What were those? IDK.

Who cares, I am just ready for the US to stop spending billions of dollars that we don't have trying to "save" Ukraine.

If they can win on their own fine, but I don't go to work everyday and pay my taxes to see untold billions of dollars spent propping up what was by all accounts one of the most corrupt states on the planet.

No argument there. I don't support our sending them a single cent. But that is an entirely different conversation.

Soledar was a town of 10,000 people before the war. This being Russia’s largest gain since the summer speaks more towards how unsuccessful the Russian army has been for the past few months. This isn’t some big victory

This still hasn't been verified but hey...it's not like you are an honest person anyway. So just go ahead and make shite up out of thin air.

Luckily for Ukraine Zelensky is no Neville Chamberlain who traded land for a faux peace.

London Zelensky chose destruction for Ukraine for a Pro Russian eastern region most ukrainians dubbed West Virginia.

He is now hated and under 24/7 guard now from assassinations.
Ukraine will lose at least half its population, just for the sole purpose of weakening Russia.

Indefatigable you seem to throw around this sovereignty word a lot, lets check the meaning....

quote:

Sovereignty is a political concept that refers to dominant power or supreme authority.

Seems to me that would be Russia in the territory it has now liberated. Are you saying they should give up that???

Seriously, you are acting like some drunk 3 streets above Bourbon at 3am with some local pointing a gun at him and you say "You know thats not a legally registered firearm its against the law to shoot me nanner nanner nanner".

Ukraine has no bargaining power, the ONLY thing they have is US money and with a new house that is gonna dry up quickly, particularly when they expose all the corruption in Ukraine, then lets see if smartarse zezky ends up with any part of Ukraine. Thats the point Gumbo is making....but you just keep telling that gangster his gun is illegal

We invited Russia into the G7 for instance.

quote:

The G7 countries are Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the U.K. and the U.S. These economies dominate global trade, and Russia was a member of the "G8" until 2014—but was expelled from the group in response to its annexation of Crimea, part of Ukraine.

I don't know if they're "winning" but this war is certainly weakening Russia

The most predictable outcome out of all of this is both Ukraine and Russia will be fricked long term
