China and the US are economic powers, Russia is not.

Russia has very little to offer us.

Right. Texas has a larger GDP than Russia. They are not a serious player on the global economic scene.

They're a geographically large country with a big nuclear arsenal. Other than that they aren't shite.

The biggest gain that Russian forces have made since the summer is a 5 square mile town in the Donetsk oblast and that makes you think Zelensky is up against a wall? I realize it's strategically important to the fighting there but c'mon...

Great news then. Stop sending money over there. Zelensky doesn't need it to topple Putin's redneck army.

Nuland is a complete psycho. Miss Lindsey and McCain wanted this, too.

Well, I remember this rather well. American engineers helped dismantle many of those nukes.

Abstract
On December 5, 1994, leaders of the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Russian Federation met in Budapest, Hungary, to pledge security assurances to Ukraine in connection with its accession to the Treaty on the Nonproliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) as a non-nuclear-weapons state. The signature of the so-called Budapest Memorandum concluded arduous negotiations that resulted in Ukraine’s agreement to relinquish the world’s third-largest nuclear arsenal, which the country inherited from the collapsed Soviet Union, and transfer all nuclear warheads to Russia for dismantlement. The signatories of the memorandum pledged to respect Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability of its borders, and to refrain from the use or threat of military force. Russia breached these commitments with its annexation of Crimea in 2014 and aggression in eastern Ukraine, bringing the meaning and value of security assurance pledged in the Memorandum under renewed scrutiny.

The winter ground freeze was always going to accelerate Russia's advances. The front had been a mud pit all fall.

But we act so scared of them. We formed NATO to stop the perceived aggression of a country with the GDP that is no larger than Texas.

NATO was formed in 1949 to keep the Soviet Union at bay

The Soviet Union was much more than just Russia

Russia should be thankful that NATO hasn't intervened militarily because they would be reduced to rubble already

They made a very poor decision invading Ukraine. One that will set back their country for decades.

NATO was formed in 1949 over 70 years ago when Russia and their conquered nations threatened Western Europe.

The threat was real.

A small mining town? And this makes the pro-Putin faction brag? Months of combat and thousands of lives lost for a small mining town that no longer has a single structure standing?

Man, OP is desperate for pro-Russia news.

That's pretty much what I get out of it

What's the point of annexing something that you burned to the ground?

That is the correct answer. Now, who defined the borders and how was that done?

Are you asking who defined the borders of Ukraine in 1991? The borders of modern Ukraine were contiguous with Soviet Ukraine, to which the modern nation of Ukraine is the successor state.
