They have a point. We've become so divided there isn't much of a middle ground anymore. We've all dug into our trenches. 2020 will be about turnout and excitement - that favors Trump. Bigly.
But this article is complete crap. She thinks it favors the Dem.

Nominally, this helps the Dems because they supposedly have a registration advantage.
Problems are two things-
One, their huge registration advantages are concentrated in large states like California
Two, there is a historical precedent for people voting Republican despite being still registered as Dems.

I have been saying for a while that if Trump wins the 2020 election he may well do so while losing the popular vote by 10 million voters which is going to be freaking great!!

Hillary Clinton was the most electable, non-sitting, Dem party candidate in a long time. And she lost to Trump in an election with the second highest voter turnout % in 50 years (highest raw number). Do you really think a vote for Trump in 2016 is not a repeat in 2020? And against the candidates y'all have this year? Trump may beat Obama's 2008 electoral count.

It boils down to 6 or 7 states. It still seems Trump understands that more than the Dems... as was the case in 2016.
In the dems favor, Hillary was a terrible strategist, campaigner, and incredibly tone deaf. Upset by Obama badly, then by Trump badly. Only gifted a senate seat in a deep blue state.
Just about anyone will fire up the base more than she did.
