You just confirmed that Johnson's greatest asset that got him elected is very few people know anything about him. As much as you'll protest it, that's really not ideal for electing the person who is second in the succession line to be POTUS.

The public didn't elect him. His colleagues did and they know him very well. Very few members of the House are known to the public at large.
