An enlisted MAN in charge... Just what the left feared the most!

I think there is a good chance this turns out to be the biggest upside pick for Trump. I think there is a very good chance the left and media are flustered by how well rounded Hegseth's competency turns out to be.
He's lulled folks to sleep playing the clueless twit characters on Fox and Friends, but he's a smart guy and he has media chops. I can see it ending up a mini/lesser JD Vance situation, where the "weird" guy went from being laughed at by the left to one of the most articulate and persuasive VP candidates in history (and arguably one of the few in the modern era to have a meaningful impact on the election outcome).

Hegseth is not the typical career defense person trying to set himself for a board seat on Raytheon or Boeing like Mattis. Trump is putting people in charge who are not afraid to piss people off and make changes. I like the strategy.

With praise of Donald, rewards are granted.

He was a major in the national guard. 44 year old fox news host. He banged a fox news producer on the side and she had their kid. Wife punted him when she found out. He was also accused of stealing money from a pac. This dude can totally handle the Russians. Good times.

His confirmation hearings should be interesting at least. I don't know ow enough about him to really form an opinion, but I know know that I'm quite tired of seeing these kind of appointments come directly from the defense industry or the beurocracy end of the defense department.
He's about an outside pick with military experience as you could get, and I support that.

Recess appointment.
His life as a cocksman may make things difficult with a normal confirmation.

This an excellent pick. He's smart, knows the military and hates DEI.

Apparently he’s one of these guys

WASHINGTON (AP) — Twelve U.S. National Guard members have been removed from securing President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration after vetting by the FBI, including two who made extremist statements in posts or texts about the Wednesday event, Pentagon officials said. There were no specific threats to Biden.
Two other U.S. officials told The Associated Press that all 12 were found to have ties with right-wing militia groups or posted extremist views online. The officials, a senior intelligence official and an Army official briefed on the matter, did not say which fringe groups the Guard members belonged to or what unit they served in. The officials were not authorized to speak publicly and spoke to The AP on condition of anonymity. The officials told the AP they had all been removed because of “security liabilities.”

Who cares if he is an NCO OR OFFICER….i know a bunch of NCOs that I would follow into war and I know equally a bunch of officers that couldn’t lead a wet dream…

National guard Major. I'd prefer a master sergeant but your point is well made.

He talks about it on that podcast - it was because he has a cross tattoo (he got overseas) so therefore he’s a Nazi

Likewise calling for pre-emptive strikes on North Korea on tv. Keep in mind we're about to enter a period of nuclear proliferation.
quote:
AINSLEY EARHARDT: I mean we have to do something now.
PETE HEGSETH: There's merit in a preemptive strike. But you got to do it right. You got to -- it's got to be decisive. How comprehensive is that first strike capability? But history shows us that when you let dictators get the worst weapons in the world, they wield a ton of influence. And what about the history -- in North Korea they shown us that they're [never] going to stop. We passed that accord in 1994 and they've only gotten more advanced ever since.
