North Korean state media early Tuesday broadcast its first video of President Trump's historic summit with Kim Jong Un, including footage of Trump saluting a North Korean officer.

There's a difference between bowing and saluting. Bowing denotes subservience while a salute renders respect. To compare the two is just dumb. Were you ever in the service?
ETA: Trump was returning the North Korean Officer's salute, which is customary.

A salute
A bow
One of these has a meaning that is not like the other.
quote:
a gesture of respect, homage, or polite recognition or acknowledgment, especially one made to or by a person when arriving or departing.
A bow
quote:
to bend the knee or body or incline the head, as in reverence, submission, salutation, recognition, or acknowledgment.
One of these has a meaning that is not like the other.

is it traditional to salute a general in another army?

I would like to see the unedited video, maybe the NOKO general saluted Trump 1st? Wouldn’t surprise me if that’s what happened.

That’s exactly what happened. And the video is out there.
I believe Trump went for a handshake and the NoKo went for a salute. Trump returned the salute.

This is pettiness. Just like the pettiness with Obama bowing.
Both were simply trying to show respect.
