This is pettiness. Just like the pettiness with Obama bowing.

Both were simply trying to show respect.

No, that’s incorrect. The meaning of both actions have been posted numerous to mes on this thread. You’re showing your partisanship/ignorance by stating this.

This is, of course, the correct answer. People are actually comparing the definitions of the two things.

Just for the sake of accuracy that definition says OR. Meaning it could be any of those things but doesnt have to be all of them. Its not a sign of submission in all situations. It could just be recognition.

However, if you guys cant admit that its not a good look for the POTUS to be saluting military of other countries...especially that one...then you are too biased.

Yes... and in this case if he is returning a salute or just saluting it is helping relations with NK by signifying we now consider them to be friendly.

You are ignoring context of the action and instead focusing on the one meaning that supports your partisan stance (submission)

The meanings of the 2 actions are very similar and can mean the exact same thing when used in the same context.

Do you have issues with reading?

What is different between the two... feel free to point out the different connotations...

There's a difference between bowing and saluting. I don't agree with with DJT saluting this guy, but to compare a bow, which denotes subservience, to a salute which renders respect, is just dumb. Were you ever in the service?

Nice spin

"Bows are the traditional greeting in East Asia, particularly in Japan, Korea, China, and Vietnam. In China, and Vietnam, shaking hands or a slight bow have become more popular than a full bow. However, bowing is not reserved only for greetings. Bowing is a gesture of respect"

In summary: lots of hypocrites need to eat crow

A salute is never seen as a sign of submission and there is protocol for it.

A bow can be seen as a sign of submission. There is no military protocol for bowing.

I know right and especially compared to you, a beacon of great intelligence. What a dummy he merely managed a multibillion dollar empire and became POTUS. Woe is us.

We can all find definitions to fit the narrative:

quote:

Bowing is a gesture of respect. Different bows are used for apologies and gratitude.

quote:

A salute is a gesture or other action used to display respect

a few months ago we were chattering about war with them. I am not sure that is "friendly"

I don't really care if trump salutes a general in the axis of evil (as branded by Republican george bush) but I think this is a bit of a stretch.
