Not a bad start!

That is about 4% of the workforce

I’d love for it to reach close to 10%

These people are idiots. The deal is likely to get better.

That's my thought.
Didn't Elon say last year that doge was floating the idea of two years pay if they took the deal?

The next round of layoffs will likely be people prosecuted for malfeasance in office for double dipping on jobs (simultaneous full time jobs with the Feds and another entity).

Buyouts or get canned after 30 days because they already have been notified. Buyouts restrict any potential problems

What people don't understand is when we shutdown the government, Trump is going to lay them off, so he can pay soldiers and retiree's. It should be awesome, I tell you...

It's not a "buyout" in a sense. Basically deferred resignation. Somebody who does this will be placed on admin leave until September 30. Then they will resign or retire if possible.

Half are probably close to retirement and the other half know they don't do shite and will get fired...it's as good as they are going to get.

What’s so funny about this is that Democrats are hooting and hollering and celebrating this when in reality it’s exactly what Trump and his team wants / to weed out the trash

frick that.... pissing away more money. Make these frickers go find jobs like the rest of us. Why the hell would we leverage two freaking years? No company would ever do that. These people have been sitting at home doing nothing and/or double dipping on other jobs.

Fire them and move on. It is a reduction in force of the US Government.

I’d bet most of these are ‘the good ones’ too. They’re the older, smarter version of the .gov worker totally pissed at what’s been hired for the last 15 years…they’ll just retire. We’re fricked, because in that…we’re left with the ones that weren’t doing shite anyway.

Just my opinion, obviously.

Even if it is, it's still an improvement in the long term.

Also, I keep seeing that these "buyouts" may be tied to being able to PROVE you didn't hold any other jobs for the "remote work" positions. That's easy enough to prove through tax records if true, and the ultimate kicker. It's unlawful for those people to have a second job while representing the government, so they are either clean and accept the buyout or, if they're dirty, they just quit to avoid exposure or still try to get the buyout and possibly face breech of contract and/or prosecution.

Have to wonder what would this look like moving forward. We’re always in this purgatory of policy back and forth

Probably not. Trump is offering the most he can without having to get outside approval. The next move won't be as generous because uniparty isn't going to help shrink the government.

I don't see why not. It's a registration. Just like quitting
