We had steak and lobster every Sunday in Afghanistan when i was deployed back in 2003. First and only time i ever ate lobster so cant compare, but the steaks were definitely not Ruth’s Chris. I have zero issue with feeding our troops decent food now and then.

I rather pay for good food for the troops than for transition treatments.

but I personally don’t think it’s a scandal that troops overseas were given steak and lobster a few times last year.

It’s been happening since at least 1989 - the first year I had it overseas. I can’t remember the occasion, but it was a nice gesture.

Hmmmm. Steak and lobster. I'm not sure anyone really cares. Now, crab is a different story. Jumbo lump is fine, but I think if it were crab legs, that's a scandal.

Please tell me they provided lots of butter.

As a veteran/retired Army, let me say, surf and turf night while deployed was one of the nights I hit the 24 hour sandwich bar.
This democrat should apologize for serving that mess to Soldiers.

Any of those politicians squawking about this would be so damn hypocritical as they regularly eat, drink vacation as well as overpaid off the American taxpayers

So Dems are fine with illegal migrants being provided all kinds of taxpayer funded government goodies but they get indignant when it comes to providing some great food for our troops.

Yep, that indeed sounds about on par for today’s “American” Democratic Party.

lobster was considered a, "low-class" food, often referred to as "cockroaches of the sea".

I have been to Maine and Massachusetts a number of times, and have had fresh caught lobster a few times. I don't particularly care for it.

When I'm in that area of the country, clam chowder is my go-to, especially during cooler weather.

It used to be tradition that if troops were fed steak and lobster that meant they were going into a dangerous mission the next day. I don’t know if it still means that but it definitely was the case in Vietnam.

It's a lot more than a nice meal once a month!

I always enjoyed Republicans bitching about gov’t spending, fraud, and abuse then casually voting for a trillion dollar military budget as if the military wasn’t the same corrupt, inefficient entity.

Are the “D’s” upset about all the fraud rampant in the food stamp program?

From Grok:
Can you buy lobster with EBT card?

Yes, you can buy lobster with an EBT card (which is used for SNAP benefits), as long as it meets the program's rules for eligible foods. According to official USDA SNAP guidelines, eligible items include any foods intended for home preparation and consumption, such as meat, poultry, and fish (which covers seafood like lobster). There are no restrictions based on price or "luxury" status—SNAP does not prohibit high-end foods like steak, caviar, or lobster.

Hegseth spent $93 billion in one month – roughly the cost of extending the ACA tax credits for THREE YEARS.

But instead of lowering American’s healthcare costs, Hegseth used millions of taxpayer dollars on fruit baskets, Herman Miller recliners, ice cream machines, Alaskan King Crabs, and a Steinway & Sons grand piano.

A true grifter in every sense of the word.

I don't think I ever got a Herman Miller Eames or a Steinway when I served...

No mention of lobster?

But Chuck is okay with Billions going to heathen Somalia Warlords via fraud.

Everybody knows what’s going down. It’s a dogfight for formal power from here forward. It’s either MAGA or “fundamental transformation “. Authoritarian Globalist Fascism or what can be salvaged of the Constitutional Republic.

This. This happens at all levels of government and in all departments, not just the DOJ.

It's incentive driven. Remove the incentive and it'll stop.
