Doubt it, most of the Ai jobless crowd won’t be conditioned to actual labor. I can tell you from experience, taking an office person and requiring them to physically work for 8 hours (Even in Air Conditioning) has shown me the vast majority would struggle, the vast majority do not adapt. Take the AC away and almost none will adapt.

My company has been hiring welders and machinists...even through Biden's shitshow.
The wages and other compensation that we provide is well above middle class....because we HAVE to do this to get and retain them.

I work for a mid sized fire department in Tennessee. Right now at 18 years old we will hire you, provide all training, and pay you 55k a year. We have an excellent benefits package and retirement.
We still struggle with recruitment and retention. High schoolers have no interest in this because they feel they have to go to college or they have failed

He's wrong about Ford.
WSJ did a breakdown of it. To reach that $150,000 salary as a Ford Mechanic, a lot of overtime and also teaching was involved. Also left out that at Ford, the mechanics have to buy their own tool sets, hence an artificial barrier keeping many out.

I won’t argue with you on what income levels are considered middle class or not, but you can certainly live comfortably in the majority of the US on a single 120k/year salary if you make wise choices.
And if you can’t live off that, then a spouse will have to work also. But if would still be a choice

My SIL is a fireman. He has a BSME but was bored to tears. Comes from a family of volunteer fire fighters and decided to make it his career...currently an Assistant Chief.

Again though, we aren’t talking jobs for 50 year olds. We are talking jobs for 20 year olds.
I think the biggest issue the trades need to work on, and colleges too, is a program that combines the 2. There’s 0 reason you couldn’t go work for a HVAC or plumbing etc company for 30 hours a week (let’s say 4 days) and do school almost full time. Learn a trade and get a small business degree.
The issue with the trades is pushing it for people to be a plumber their whole life. You want to push people to own a plumbing company.

What I wish was discussed more is if there is any impact from the unions making it possible to retire after 20 or so years? Maybe that has changed but don’t know.
As an aside, Alabama has done a great job investing in education of trade workers and that is part of why they have all the car plants

A great goal is always to reach upper management. Problem is that the number of positions for indians greatly exceeds the positions for chiefs. The idea that everyone under 30 can just be an Indian and everyone over 30 will be a chief isn't realistic.

$120k a year puts you in the top 20% of HOUSEHOLD incomes, not just individual. It’s top 5-10% for individuals.
