These threads always revolve around a fundamental misrepresentation of how many of these high-paying trades jobs there are, how difficult it is to get them, the experience and training required, the entry costs to enter those fields and pay out of pocket for tools, classes, certificates, licences, etc, how much of that high pay comes from OT and time and a half, etc, etc, etc. Half of all auto mechanics are making less than $48k and 90% are making less than $78k. Talking about the tiny fraction of auto mechanics who end up comfortably making six figures is like talking about the tiny fraction of high school theater kids who move to New York with $100 to their name and end up on Broadway.
Again, if a guy is such a genius that it's a done deal that he's automatically going to end up being in that 99.9th percentile, why not just go be a neurosurgeon?

I graduated HS in 2008... 90% of my teachers literally told us students that if we didn’t goto college and get a 4 year degree that we would be working at McDonalds as a 40 year old...
Everyone including myself (Military) that went into a trade or whatever are mostly just as much successful and make more money than our peers who got a 4 year degree.
This notion also sent a lot of kids to College who had no business being there in the first place and are now whining about being saddled with debt because they didn't graduate or got a dumb liberal arts degree and work at an entry level HS degree job...
Everyone including myself (Military) that went into a trade or whatever are mostly just as much successful and make more money than our peers who got a 4 year degree.
This notion also sent a lot of kids to College who had no business being there in the first place and are now whining about being saddled with debt because they didn't graduate or got a dumb liberal arts degree and work at an entry level HS degree job...

Maybe you can start, right out of high school, making really good money, with advancement opportunities, and no skills at all. The problem isn’t the job, it’s the expectations that Americans have for work. I have a college degree that I have never used. All I have ever done is through hard work and determination. Would I trade my education for experience? You bet your arse.

In Baldwin county the trades pay very well. The illegals are making a killing because they are good and show up to work. They are not fricking cheap anymore. The problem is their dumbasses have been here for 15 years and have refused to become legal. So they’re getting scooped up.
I’ve actually started to notice some old school meth head white people framing crews and finishers. The money is there and there’s plenty of work just need people to get off their asses.
