Smart move by Rubio to jump out.

JD doesn’t really have that option so political gamble to resign but it’s a path for Rubio.

JD's only hope is that Trump is actually impeached, Otherwise, its a Rubio/DeSantis ticket.

JD is savy, he will sell it that he tried to steer the president in a direction the American people wanted things to go.

Smart.

He has hopes for a political future, knows the longer he sticks around Trump the worse his chances are.

He’s gonna make a rare double pivot. First calling Trump a con man, then kissing boots, and now having separate himself again. It’s a bold strategy.

He has no shot at the presidency. I mean absolutely zero. He's connected to Trump at every level and every failure that people just rejected. He can't possibly be this stupid. He is probably this narcissistic, though.

He has greater odds to become president than stepping down.

Nice projection there

Not a fan of this, who could replace him that's halfway decent and be confirmed by the Dems in the Senate? He should stay where he is and that way he can stay on as Secretary of State in case DeSantis wins in '28.

No way is a Rubio big dick Ron ticket happening. It wouldn’t make sense having president and vp both from Florida.

The political best move for the right would be Rubio leaving, Dems impeach Trump, JD takes over steers the ship correctly and then you get Rubio or Big Dick Ron as vp. Then you have Ohio and Florida locked up.

The bench for the right is really bad

Its not at all.

JD, DeSantis and Rubio are all extremely qualified and viable.

Wouldn't one of them legally have to not be from Florida?

It's the admirable thing to do, rather than criticize your boss.

Now he will be free to campaign and distance himself from Trump, which will be hard to do.

I support DeSantis, and Rubio isn't in my top 5.

Unless one of them moves, they won't be on the same ticket unless they want to forfeit the electoral votes of Florida.

Not barred to be from the same state, but Florida electors cannot vote for their ticket if they are.

quote:

the 12th Amendment does place one restriction on how the electors are allowed to vote: They must vote for at least one candidate from a state other than their own. For instance, an elector from New York could successfully vote for a hypothetical, all-Virginia ticket of George Washington for president and Thomas Jefferson for vice president. However, an elector from Virginia could not cast the same ballot: That person could vote for either Washington or Jefferson, but would have to cast their other vote for a non-Virginian.

or in the case of a Florida-Florida ticket, electors for Florida cannot vote for the all-Florida ticket.

I knew this would happen right after the election. The only outside voices for the battered republicans are those who decide to run. Rubio is talented in many ways. He is not jumping ship, he's trying to do his part to save Republicans.
By the way, Vance can't do this.
