The clerk’s office must be the source of programs
Well, for one thing, it’s a huge employment program for the DEI set.
Secondly, it has local control over maintaining voting machines, a big part of controlling the voter rolls, and in election vote counting.

The Criminal Clerk had this power?

I know, right?!! But yes

Wow
That's funny. Triples down on the weirdness of everything going on.
Isn't the consolidated clerk part of the machine, regardless?

THIS is the line in the sand for Orleans
It wasn’t losing judges or relative DA warrants. Or anything else.
But consolidation of the Clerk of court positions
I’ve never heard a single person, in Orleans or elsewhere, even have an opinion about a CoC before. But suddenly it’s a bedrock issue.

If you listened to cubbies, Orleans is under fascist control via Baton Rouge due to these developments

The NO legislative caucus saved roche over that commie lady with more seniority on the bench when they were eliminating judges.
Wonder if he improperly repaid any debts during this. Clearing the courtroom and ordering a reporter to be cuffed and removed seem a little out of the ordinary.

Louisiana will also cease to exist if New Orleans isn’t allowed to have two clerks

Jeff going to drop the hammer on these dumbasses. frick New Orleans
This maybe the nuclear option, could the legislature vote to dissolve the city of New Orleans home rule charter and vote to place the city in a new form of governance or split the parish into smaller jurisdictions.

I would greatly enjoy seeing them “Hoisted with their own petard”.

Harvey Vortac for Mayor of consolidated communities of Mid City and Bayou St John. My platform is single issue…removal of non migrating and invasive Canada Geese.

After this impressive and unapologetic display of fricktardation, it may well end up that way.

So more political patronage?
The real threat would be consolidation with other parishes to eliminate even more of these government jobs (which needs to happen across the state, especially in the sparely-populated northern and coastal parishes)

This is why we need to do everything possible to prevent democrats from taking the senate and house in midterm elections. New Orleans is a microcosm of what will happen if dems take control

landry is such a petty mother fricker and this is just giving him the keys to a nuclear mission submarine to destroy nola

Over time they know that consolidation will eliminate useless career leeches that populate the combined departments.
That’s fine, and I’m all for it.
I’m not for it this way.
They should have eliminated the position before an election was held, instead of the week after the election was held because the candidate who won the election is someone that the governor and his pal Cannizzaro don’t like.
It reeks of impropriety.
The position of criminal clerk had existed for 175 years, but it needed to be eliminated the week after Duncan won the election? If this were a republican won position being eliminated in this manner, this board would be having a 5 alarm meltdown and screaming about “election interference,” and, “this country is done for!”
This is typical slimy Louisiana politics on both sides. It’s embarrassing.

Then what’s the problem? They lost population and continue to lose population.
Sounds like some important scheme was just neutered.
