I am against taxes that don't hit everyone the same way. It is morally wrong to someone 10% and someone else 30%.

Not to mention it sets up a situation we have been living in for decades where the untaxed vote to increase taxes when they aren't the once paying it. Every year it is easier and easier to raise the income threshold of who qualifies for getting the tax brake until only Elon Musk is paying taxes and that leads to taking in far far less money because the super rich aren't rich enough to pay for everyone.

Flat tax, and that should be the ONLY tax. NOTHING ELSE. Any gov't function should come from this flat tax. No charge for a drivers lic. which the govt controls. No tax on stuff you stupidly think you own, such as your house. No charges (tax) for hunting lic., marriage lic., inspection stickers, building permits. Those are ALL gov't crap that our taxes are suppose to pay for.

Instead we pay our taxes and then they charge us for every interaction with the gov't like it is some private business.

They are going to renew 0.45% sales tax that is set to expire, and then expand the sales tax to 40+ new services including lawn maintenance, home repair contractors, and pet grooming.

Anyone know where I can find a third-party analysis of the tax plan? Does one exist?

But at least everyone would pay for what they buy — you have a choice in buying things or not.

Minimum wage @ $7.50/hr. Is $15,000 year pre-tax theft grab. WTF can you live on that?

Watching the legislature act is such a hit to my self esteem. It is remarkable how stupid the average legislator is.

Minimum wage was never promised as livable wage.

My guess when all is said and done I’ll pay a little more a year. I’d rather assume I’m one of the losers in this, and maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised.

The tax plan is something like 8 bills. Closest you will find is looking at the fiscal notes on the bills done by the nonpartisan fiscal office...though they can be tough to slog through.

For example this is HB1 income tax )

Then clink on "notes" to read the fiscal note. Then read the notes of the other bills you are interested in.

A pretty good summary of the income and sales tax bills can also be found here: RESET summary

It's a summary of a study done by the retired state legislative economist (here is the study itself: Tax study )

Among other things, it breaks down the effects by household income.

If anyone has anything else, I would love to see it myself.
