Let’s be clear about the Iran “deal” - it’s awful for the world

This is a humiliation to the USA. All because we don’t have willpower to see the job through.

Greedy americans all across the country are more worried about saving $40-50 bucks a month at the gas station than doing their part to finally get rid of this regime that has been a thorn to the region for 40+ years.

5 things I can guarantee you:

1.) Iran won’t honor the deal
2.) Hezbollah and other proxies will remain a threat
3.) Iran now has the ultimate leverage of KNOWING it can shut the straight down and have the American fools cave within a few weeks over temporarily higher gas prices
4.) Iran’s ballistic missile and drone program will kick back into high gear within a few years
5.) Iran will continue the pursuit of highly enriched uranium and ultimately get a nuclear bomb because Americans are spineless

Those temporarily high gas prices will look like child’s play once they have an iron grip on the region because of their missile/drone/nuclear capabilities.

Bonus negative - China just became emboldened in its pursuit of taking Taiwan and other islands in the Western Pacific. If we got that weak kneed over gas prices, imagine how quickly the appetite will sour for full on war over Taiwan when the economic consequences are much more dire.

Everything he listed is high probability. This is not a good deal. Awful.

I wasn't even commenting about the deal. Trump didn't end this war b/c of gas prices. Regime change wasn't possible and he realized that into the conflict. Iran closing the SOH was a game changer.

But yes, if what's being reported is true (and it was from Iran so patience is needed), it's not a good deal...although it doesn't sound like a real deal is in place yet.

A bad deal is better than attempting regime change or continuing this war like it was occurring.

I am a huge Trump fan and will continue to be one. I know deep down he wants to finish the job, he even said so the other day on Fox News when discussing Kharg Island when he said, “I’d prefer to take it but I don’t think the country has the appetite for that.”

It’s not his fault our country is filled with spoiled, greedy, entitled citizens that cannot take the slightest inconvenience even though it would do a lot of good in the long run.

Trump took the off ramp because he doesn’t want an electoral wipe out in the midterms.

Humiliation because we bombed the ever loving frick out of them and killed multiple leaders? I would say it shows constraint. Instead of getting a big ego and sending troops over there, Trump said eh frick it we tried.

Better than sending them billions of dollars and saying we trust you bro.

Wait you mean a deal to perhaps meet and make a deal later that perhaps in turn may then even address the actual issues in dispute isn’t winning?

This whole thing is exactly the predictable disaster that anyone with a brain knew it would be.

OK. Let's go along with this point. You want Trump and the administration to change this mindset....how?

I'm not going to pretend to know how this will all play out, but Trump does not have some easy button to make people buy into the outcome you describe.

Correct. That’s why the obvious course of action was not to do this dumb shite to begin with. There was never any support or desire to actually do the thing—but somehow we came to the conclusion that half measures and total capitulation would equal strength.

Pretty much, yea.

We did nothing. Killing replaceable people and breaking replaceable things accomplishes nothing.

All we did is make Iran more powerful politically and more unstable generally.

It’s total failure and has been for many weeks now.

Of course he has.

But this thread is about the absolutely moronic war in Iran. We aren’t talking about anything else.

Then why in the hell did he agree to attack in the first place? It’s a complete waste of time and resources.
