Free markets are a sham. If we had free markets post 2008 would have looked way different.
If we had free markets banks wouldn’t have taken the risk to loan mortgage level money to Deshaun and deshelia, or Vicki the stripper to buy a house they couldn’t afford. Govt interference in the free market made those investments less risky. Housing can be affordable and so can vehicles, but the govt is so far up the arse of the builders/manufacturers that they have to add tens of thousand of extra cost to the product to save the environment and shite.
Free markets reward the producer who can make a product the consumer will accept at X price. Govt involvement in free markets skew those numbers. Consumers are no longer able to deny a product bc feature X is too expensive, they are forced to accept it at an elevated price floor. Don’t want to pay $1,000 for traction control, tuff, govt says you will.

We're just gonna ignore inflation apparently

Saw that vid a while ago. It was pretty good.

Big government is the main driver of their problems, they don’t get that doubling down on that will make it worse.
Housing is still unaffordable, gas prices are high, tuition, childcare, insurance, and healthcare costs are still far outpacing inflation, and gov't spending is way up. None of that has been addressed. The only material positive is turning off the "infinite 3rd world immigration" spigot the Biden admin wrenched open.

Revolt to what, dumbass? Feel free to list the socialist nations that are doing better economically than the US. That’s the problem with you people, you are ignorant

Do they really want socialism or do they want what they think is socialism?

Revolt doesn't always mean revolting towards socialism. But if young men do revolt, how are the old men going to stop them?

I’m not concerned with what “some college kid” said. They say lots of dumb shite, but it seems to engaged your attention…

Many will be unhappy. Those that are on cradle to grave programs here in the states will not like the results if we incorporate the Nordic model of economy(which isn't socialism but is pointed to by many American socialists).

When it comes to spending, there are no small government parties.
When is comes to reducing regulations (hidden taxes), the GOP is much smaller in comparison.

You understand that this doesn't actually answer the question, right?
There are a lot of components to it.
People look at housing prices and income. They don't look at mortgage rates.
People look at cost of tuition and income. They don't look at loan rates. Or the fact that those loans didn't exist in the 70s (thus the demand for college education being driven by people working full time jobs and going to night school).
We are absolutely in a housing bubble since 2022. A bubble makes it harder to afford a home. But we have been in bubbles before (2006 is the one that i personally experienced).
We are in a college tuition bubble. I havent researched tuitions in Georgia because we have HOPE scholarships that pay full tuition.
It is funny what increased demand when paying for the good is covered externally does to the price of a good.

Do they really want socialism or do they want what they think is socialism?
The problem is that system only works by outsourcing defense and tightly restricting immigration.

What makes you think I care to stop them? The dumbasses far outnumber the sane and why would I prevent them from killing each other. If someone is too stupid to see what has happened to Europe or too uneducated to know what happened to the Soviet Union and China under Mao then we deserve everything that comes with the downfall

I may be confusing it with another one that i saw at the same time.
David Friedberg as a guest on someone else's podcast.
Both were brilliant. They not only filled in gaps that I had compartmentalizing thoughts, but they challenged a bunch of presupisitions.

I remember engineers struggling to find work in the 90s.
It seems a shift has taken place in my lifetime in that when people used to talk about the economy they would be talking about GDP and unemployment. Neither of those seem to be mentioned anymore. When people talk about the economy now, they are exclusively talking about inflation and affordability.

Inflation Adjusted Spending Power
$400 bucks in 1999 equates to roughly ~$810 in todays dollars. If the dollar was worth the same, you'd expect rents for similar places to be about that amount.
I don't know if you went to UGA but let's say you did. Avg rent in athens is more than $1800 per zillow.
So let's recap. The spending power of the dollar relative to 1999 was the same, rent would be $800 bucks or so. It's $1000 more than that, so we can conclude that the dollar does not buy the same amount of house.

He was a teacher. For a reason.
I dunno, I think he had a good point about literacy. A few years later I stopped at a light and the cop next to me saw I wasn't wearing a seat belt and pulled me over.
He was a young democrat and I gave him my D.L. He took out his ticket pad and looked at it like it was written in Ancient Greek. He stared at it for a long time until I offered to show him where to write things. When I finished teaching him how to write the ticket I thought he might tear it up. Nope, I had to pay it. So the literacy problem out there might be worse than we think.
