Sorry but HOAs are absolutely necessary to prevent trashy people with money from doing trashy shite in nice neighborhoods. Unless you've seen it first hand you just don't get it.

Nah. Not all HOAs are bad. The first HOA I was with had a bit of overreaching issue but it was mainly because of riffraff renters that caused issues. The current HOA that I’m with is probably the best one I’ve had. Maintains all the playground park, lake, fences on the main road, decorate Christmas lights on the main entrances, etc. They don’t get on people’s asses for their roof color or front door color like some of other HOAs. We pretty much do as we please.

People that hate on the HOAs are usually the white trash or ghetto people who doesn’t respect the property or pay their bills on time.

HOA's do a world of good by preventing neighborhoods from being bought up by 'investors' by forcing the owner to live in the home for two years before being able to rent it and not allowing 'Short Term Rentals' such as Air BnB to ruin good neighborhoods

These are voluntary associations.

My HOA has some of the dumbest rules known to man. But usually you just threaten to sue and they go away.

Florida has removed quite a lot of their power in recent years. They still exist but they can no longer levy fines that can ultimately result in foreclosure and such.

Also, we no longer need a building permit to replace doors and windows on our homes in Florida.

HOAs are the only legal solutions for a lot of things, at least in Georgia law.

Like any other form of government, they can be good or bad.

The vocabulary of the government and busybody loving mouthbreathers appears quite limited. You're the third person to use the same exact line to convey your feelings...

A retard would have no choice but to acquiesce to unfettered authority. That isn't me.

Government gave the HOAs their power. You had no problem with that. The government can also strip the HOAs of their power (Florida has already engaged in that). But you all lose your mind at the thought of the government increasing individual freedom.

That's as dumb as suggesting that a benevolent mayor and city council will stay the same in a city you move to. There is no guarantee that a new board won't come in and behave like tyrants. That is all too common and I have posted several examples.

Look here jack!

Catherine and I will park our RV in Clark and Ellen's drive anytime we want and the HOA can kick rocks.

I will take Snot to shite in your yard if you keep it up!

My next house will not be somewhere an HOA exists. Total waste of money they charge.

Then tell us who the frick is supposed to make sure a roof on a condo building gets repaired or replaced? Or even makes sure the insurance premiums are paid? Or even calls the insurance company to file the claim?

A property management company. An entity that only handles the necessities of operations. Not someone prowling the complex looking for a trash can left out five minutes after trash pickup. Attorney Steve Lehto has several videos on how awful his condo association behaved. The trash can fines he talks about extensively. It was a money grab scheme.

It has been said a U.N. sub entity org originated HOAs.

Ken and Karens won't know what to do with themselves if all mailboxes don't match.

I'm not a fan of them personally but they are completely legal.

If neighborhoods want to organize in this fashion, go for it. It helps with property values obviously. But, I would never live in one myself.

If you don't want to be subject to them, don't buy in one.

You people still aren't understanding the problem. A new board can come in at any time and change what was once considered reasonable. They just stick "subject to change" in the documents and then you have no recourse without attorneys and large legal bills.

You have a very warped view of "legal". That can change with the stroke of a pen. Property taxes are currently legal as well but Florida is also considering eliminating them. The horror!

The sad truth is that it seems most Americans quite enjoy being burdened with bureaucracy and petty authority.
