The shut up and dribble stance only applies to people who hold an opinion that differs from you.

I don't care about attending a function, but people like DeNiro have ruined the Godfather for me.

As long as they don't give their opinion at a show I'm attending, that is their business. I go to escape all the bullshite and just have a good time.

Bargatze is in a weird place. He grew up almost certainly in a conservative southern family, but has lived in NYC and done the comic scene on the east coast for years. I would guess he is conservative, but he had dodged politics like the plague. I think as long as he doesn’t delve into it he’ll be okay, and stuff like this won’t really hurt or help him.

No, not really. I don't care.

Though there are some lib acts I despise regardless of politics: Mellenhead, Springsteen and the Dixie Chicks.

Their politics are bad but they are just terrible and in the case of Springsteen, way overrated.

Most of these folks are just taking money.

Now if you went around calling folks Nazis, well you have no one to blame if they just don't like you anymore.

Like Robert dinero. I can't see that guy the same anymore and can't watch his movies because all I see is an angry old little man.

I once liked about every movie Di Nero was in. Now, I won’t watch anything he’s done if I run across it on TV.

There’s several other actors and actresses that fall into that category.

I'm not being facetious or trying to pull some kind of "gotcha", I'm genuinely curious and would like to understand better. What is the rationale behind this? I get the very high level view of "I don't like that guy personally so frick him", but to me entrainment is meant to...well, entertain. If you admittedly liked his movies, why let him stop you from enjoying them? He doesn't know you so it feels like you're letting a guy that has no idea you exist rob joy from your life.

I despise pretty much everything about Alec Baldwin as an individual but 30 rock is one of the funniest shows ever created and I rewatch it every few years. I would never let the fact that he's a massive scumbag turd get in the way of me enjoying the show.

Elton John performed at one of Rush Limbaugh’s weddings. I don’t remember either one of them being ostracized. I continued to listen to Rush and still like Elton John’s music.

Also, as many have stated already, just shut up and be an entertainer, no matter your poli stripes.

At some point someone's identity can become off-putting to the point where watching them is no longer entertaining. I don't have some boycott list but I might turn something on, see an actor and think "nah" and find something else because watching them is no longer entertaining because they made themselves into something besides an actor. Mark Ruffalo (sp) would be an example of this and it's not like he was a powerful draw to begin with.

I don't know or care about the politics of whoever might be on my television or Spotify list and I don't go looking for it, so if I know about their political views it's because they went out of their way to share them. If that persona eclipsed their talent as an actor it's not anything I did, it's something they did.

For example, I love The Wonder Years music. I know that they are hard left politically, but their singer took 5 plus minutes out of a 30 minute set just to talk about ICE. Definitely rubbed me the wrong way.

I just tune them out because their live shows are awesome. But yeah, Soupy treats the stage like an Antifa rally between songs.

I typically don't care about the politics of art. I love music and film and I'm not going to deprive myself of those things if I disagree with someone involved in the production.

"Would that change the way you see that person?"

It definitely has. Especially the ones that try and influence. I don't even listen to the ones that requested Trump not to use their songs at the rally's and such. White cowards

I won't go to a concert if the artist is known for political rants even if our beliefs align.
I got a ticket to come listen to some music and step away from all that.
