shitty conditions have existed forever in prisons. It doesn't detour crime. one day this country will take a hard look at how we handle our prison systems. 82% reoffend. Most states have stripped education and other programs aimed to help people not re-offend.

I don't doubt the lack of deterrence, and I don't care. It is about removing them from the rest of us and punishing them.

Reoffenders should have to repeat their first term before starting their second, since it obviously didn't stick the first time. Same for subsequent reoccurrences.

Apparently, just being alive before A/C was unconstitutional. Prisoners then didn't have A/C and neither did the anyone else in the country.

Some interest group is definitely paying for climate change plugs.

Is this how we are referring to criminals now?

Prisons should constitutionally be required to match conditions in 1789.

No, your Moronic-ness, that's the victims. These are predators.

Judges like this should be removed.

It most certainly does detour crime. The criminals are detoured, and because of this detour, aren't committing crimes against the general population.

Personally, once you've been in prison, when you get out, that right there is your one chance. Commit another crime, you are done being a free member of society. For life. You are locked up. You've quite clearly shown your inability and will to live among civilized society.

"But hey, he's turned his life around while in prison."

Great. He can be a model prisoner and role model to other first time offenders in prison.

Well there's an interesting twist.

I tell you I was really expecting it to be racist.

My High School didn't have A/C in south Louisiana.

Was that Unconstitutional.

Let’s be real here. The shedding of clothes because of heat allows the extra punishment of getting rammed.

According to this judge it clearly was.

Have you thought of filing a lawsuit against the school district?

As a non criminal law abiding person, I was assigned to live in the North Stadium dorms in college at LSU. You want air conditioning? Open the windows and turn on a fan. Why would a convicted criminal be entitled to better treatment than law abiding citizens? Come on man!

Maybe the judge can legislate from the bench some reparations for me for cruel and unusual treatment.

I've long contended that if every prison were run like a military boot camp, the re-entry rate would be drastically lower than what it is.
