So..how do they know it's Federal Officers? It could be anybody.

I'd prefer they do random tazerings. Just walk up to an a-hole agitator tazer and walk back.

Continue tazerings until childish behavior subsides.

I do not like the idea of federal law enforcement rounding up protestors.

I don't feel like it's an unreasonable opinion. I didn't think the stupid no mask, reopening people should have been rounded up like that either.

You just got downvoted to hell and back for saying its pretty questionable to have unmarked Feds going around rounding up people.

That is pretty amazing.

The FBI is at the absolutely top of the charts of most scumbag organizations in this country and I wont change my mind because of protesters getting caught up.

That shitshow lies right on the feet of Portland being a garbage place.

You can see the two edged bullshite they are throwing. On one hand they want the feds to cough up money when they allow protesters to destroy their town. On the other hand, when feds come in to stop the destruction they don't want the feds to interfere. I am beginning to think space aliens have hit this planet with a stupid ray. Damn!

Yeah, I'm afraid that the prior discussion of "it's the brass that's the problem....the rank and file are great people" may not be quite that simple. The problem is that any FBI agent, even the rank and file, when they're sitting or standing across from a civilian they essentially believe they're the top of the food chain, that they're untouchable. They can do anything they want and any local authorities will yield to them without question. That type of perceived power can corrupt a person very substantially. They tend to much more easily justify things in their mind as well. It can very easily turn into a recipe for disaster.

That sounds more like Hong Kong than Seattle as i'm typing it out.

If you want to do China comparisons, how about the riots being more like the communist revolution? Or, let's try how about the tearing down and destruction of historical statues being more like the Chinese cultural revolution?

I seem to remember cops being transparent with their tactics. When they weren't being physically assaulted, they were being arrested, fired, and charged with crimes for doing their job and defending themselves. I wonder if that might have something to do with it.

I don't really support the tactic, but let's be real here. Cops in uniform are being attacked and receiving hell from the media and politicians when they try to control the rioting, burning, looting, and assaults through traditional non-lethal means. It would be folly to keep using what hasn't been working.

And these aren't protesters no matter how much they cry about it when being arrested. They are rioters and thugs that are destroying property and harming innocent people.

This is a crappy story written with obvious bias using the protestors "observations" as fact.
quote:

But interviews conducted by OPB show officers are also detaining people on Portland streets who aren’t near federal property, nor is it clear that all of the people being arrested have engaged in criminal activity
What garbage journalism. Which protestor is going to admit they did something wrong?

Your mind seems made up after one poorly sourced story.

Am I supposed to care about this?

Even if it’s a myth, it has the positive effect of putting some fear into them.

How transparent do you think it should be? If the feds are using undercover officers to embed within these organizations or confidential informants that are part of these organizations, and extract them periodically with staged “arrests” , do you think they should make this declaration?
