hope springs eternal. maybe someone in her office is working some kind of deal or 2 out and having the mayor in town might seal the deal with a face to face.

or it could be just a complete selfish trip to get out of la for a few days.

teedy set the bar so low almost anything outside of 'embezzling/abusing public funds and sleeping with city employees' is a win

I wish she could secure a direct Air France flight a few times a week.

Like when politicians use billions to refit a "free " plane so they can use it max 3 years?

I understand that TD has become O-L-D, but does no one recall EWE's 1984 Paris trip?

At the time, it sure looked like fun to me, all under the guise of economic development. Or political payback.

Whatever. Good times.

Helena is so much better than Teedy, and I don’t even like her

This. I am not a fan of her politics but she is 1K times better than Teedy. She is going to show up to work every day because she is trying to use this Mayoral position to work her way up in the Democratic Party swamp to be looked at for national office. Her going to Paris for the Saints for the city she is mayor of is fine.

How do the citizens of the chocolate city benefit from this work trip?

I think sometimes it's good for the mayor of a city to show up and just represent the city...and not have the citizens get anything in return.

Not everything has to be transactional.

That said, who knows, maybe she has some meetings with some people that creates a benefit for the city down the road? We likely wouldn't be saying anything about this if her predecessor hadn't absolutely abused the practice.

Weird you don’t understand tourism marketing and how it’s related to supporting New Orleans city and its future health and how the mayor is a direct tool for such needs

i'm no teedy fan but RT is right, the nfl team is going so if there was ever a logical time to make an overseas trip, this would be it. hopefully she keys in on the french connection to new orleans to bring some goodwill or something back for the city. lord knows NOLA needs a win.

Hopefully she doesn’t come back with any of those mazeltof cocktails being served in the Parisian streets.

This trip is going to be on a way like Washington Mardi Gras. A group of leaders who get to talk to each other in an environment where they can let their guards down just a little. They can afford to have more off the cuff conversations and not have to worry about perceptions because they are in a place where people don’t really care about them.

That’s what makes WMG a successful event. And Moreno can use those dynamics to potentially get the ear of Landry and Murrill to continue smoothing over this summer’s drama.

That’s if she is smart. Maybe she just goes and parties it up. Who knows?

France is already getting a taste of what New Orleans has to offer. No need to travel there.

Meh. I’m very critical of Moreno and I don’t see a problem with her going.

He went to Paris looking for answers
To questions that bothered him so
He was impressive, young and aggressive
Saving the world on his own
But the warm summer breezes
The French wines and cheeses
Put his ambition at bay
Summers and winters scattered like splinters
And four or five years slipped away
Then he went to England, played the piano
And married an actress named Kim
They had a fine life, she was a good wife
And bore him a young son named Jim
And all of the answers and all of the questions
He locked in his attic one day
'Cause he liked the quiet, clean country living
And 20 more years slipped away
Well, the war took his baby, the bombs killed his lady
And left him with only one eye
His body was battered, his world was shattered
And all he could do was just cry
While the tears were falling, he was recalling
Answers he never found
So he hopped on a freighter, skidded the ocean
And left England without a sound
Now he lives in the islands, fishes the pilin's
And drinks his green label each day
Writing his memoirs, losing his hearing
But he don't care what most people say
Through 86 years of perpetual motion
If he likes you he'll smile, then he'll say
"Jimmy, some of it's magic, some of it's tragic
But I had a good life all the way"
And he went to Paris looking for answers
To questions that bother him so
