I dint see an issue with the mayor going when the city's team is playing. She's been good about work trips compared to latoya. It's just silly she didn't hop on the direct charter.

There is a massive difference between going over there when the Saints are going with the agenda to create a secondary fanbase and going over there for a climate or PC conference that is irrelevant to the city.
She shouldn't even have to pay her own way if the reasoning makes sense. Please give me one example of Latoya going somewhere for a reason that actually impacts our city.

How do the citizens of the chocolate city benefit from this work trip? They're paying for it, after all. And its work (not her paying with her own money).

Politicians never pay their own freight. They either outright steal taxpayer dollars or use money donated to them by the rubes for reelection so they can live like royalty. All the while producing absolutely nothing of value to society.
