There's another one.

If they were o.k. with gay marriage, they weren't conservative.

Again, by definition.

"Every" is too far. Seeing Roe get overturned in my lifetime still seems surreal.

We are are own worst enemies. Look at Christians; every denomination is constantly attacking other denominations. The Democrats and the atheists never waiver with their attacks on us, though.

And what did it get you? Constitutional protections to abortion in places like Michigan and Ohio.

For a short time, there was a stance of do not give the left one single inch. Regardless of the issue. Do not back down. That stance should not have ended.

This is another area where Republicans fail. Democrats have long term vision. Republicans don't care what happens when they're out of office. Republicans have been trending slightly left for years as the Democrats have gotten their way on more and more issues and now we're at a point where the party is full of lifelong Democrats.

HA!!!

Just gonna say, my wife is eastern European. She says the American right wing is too afraid to be not nice and too afraid of being labelled a racist, a bigot, or whatever else and that keeps them from doing the right things.

This is the key. There needs to be a permanent, never-changing reason for what you do. We went of the rails in the 1920s with the triumph of the Secular Worldview over the Biblical Worldview.

It will take a spiritual renewal to get us back on track.

and just what do you think we are progressing toward?

If we progress towards your goals when you have power and progress towards mine when I have it, and we both have opposite beliefs, to what end is your progress really getting you?

And bans in conservatives states which was better than a "constitutional" right to murder babies in every state. I have no illusions. The fight for life goes on and the pre-born murderers are incredibly shrewd. Evil, but nonetheless shrewd.

Do you think principled conservatives should've just ignored that we (the USA) had gov't sanctioned baby murder?

I wonder if it needs to be explicitly Christian. Personally, I am a practicing Catholic. I am very involved in my parish. I volunteer as a catechism teacher at a different parish (our parish doesn't offer weekly religion classes for kids). My 9 year old fulfills altar server duties because we don't have official altar servers at our parish. I'm disclosing that to show that I'm not anti-Christianity and I absolutely see the many benefits of practicing the faith.

Society does claim to value interactions that are respectful, kind, charitable, etc. Those don't have to be explicitly Christian actions or values. Think about Mr. Rogers. His show wasn't a Christian show but he "preached" being a good neighbor. We need a revival of being a good neighbor.

Correct. What we call winning these days is simply not losing more ground to the freaks.

We talk about the left and how they are destroying the nation all the time. The problem with that is it tends to remove and "absolve" the conservatives in action.

Because we purchased the idea that a separation of church and state meant keeping Christianity out of politics, we allowed it all. We allowed libertarian influences to shape the lack of response. What they do is their business. Right.

Now we see the results. Kids being taught that anything goes. Experiment with any and everything. Its all about what makes you feel good... and if you feel bad, its because the creatures on the right are bigots and we will handle them. BAKE THE CAKE OR ELSE!

And its by design. All of it.

We will keep losing it too. The reason is conservatives can not get on the same page. When Trans are being elected, its already an accepted thing or they would not have been elected. Islam is surging because of the same mind set.

Until we can put aside the pettiness of individual conservatives.

We never learn.

People like you hate freedom and liberty out of fear of what people may do with theirs.

The US and the constitution and getting away from government control and allowing citizens to decide and have liberty WAS the progress.

Since then leftists of all different flavors including yourself have defined progress as reverting back to the old systems of government control.

No thanks.

The problem is our cultural reverence for the Supreme Court sways public opinion .

Even through obgerfell was indefensibly ruled, it created broad acceptance of its finding.

Liberalism is merely the decay of standards. People get sloppier over time - what a groundbreaking postulate you have there!

In 2007, Fox & Friends called Rogers an “evil, evil man” for telling children that they were special. He defended public funding for public television, and promoted racial and gender equality.

These are issues that are commonly opposed here.

obama promised us change. He delivered. But what we wanted was improvement.
To me, progress should always have an element of improvement, to distinguish it from merely new and different.
