The founders didn't put any guardrails in the founding documents to protect the constitutional republic because they probably believed there would always be enough patriots politically engaged to keep the enemies from within from destroying the country.

You don’t have to be gayer now as the newer generations have that covered, average wise anyway, hence the creep ( pun intended)
