We have laws on the books to lightly punish those that hire illegal aliens. It is time to start some heavier enforcement that makes breaking our laws not worth taking the chance.

Easy.
We don’t want to spend money promoting the interests of illegal aliens. Punishing their asses for breaking our laws is a different thing.
Punishment = good
Promotion = bad
I don’t wanna pay for the housing, healthcare, snack funds and utility credits for some of our home grown dregs either- but if they break the law I’m happy to see them do time.

Why are they calling this person a Captain. If he did not have the qualifications of a boat captain or a Captains license then he is just an amateur boat operator.
Referring to this person as a Captain portrays him as something he is not and is an insult to those who are real licensed boat captains.

I get what you are saying and somewhat agree. But this guy killed two people. Do we trust that if he is deported that he will actually be imprisoned in his home country? If we can make those assurances, then I am all for deporting him. If not, then he could be crossing the border and back in America as a free man in no time.
This is El Salvador, so he likely would be imprisoned, but as a general discussion regarding all illegals in similar situations, I'm not confident that other countries would punish them upon deportation.

Wild that after 9-11 after all the bullshite about TWIC cards and port security that an unlicensed illegal can operate a 21" passenger boat for hire in the middle of NYC.

I doubt that, even at the highest levels of NYC authority, anything would've been done in advance if they were made aware this was going on. In fact, I'm sure they did know this type of thing was happening, and it likely is happening today.
