Under a new proposal by Montgomery County (Maryland) Council, single-family home zoning would be amended to allow duplexes, triplexes, four townhomes, or in some cases a small apartment building.

When approved by the County Planning Board in June, the board's chair called it a way to boost the stock of attainable homes, what is often called the missing middle of housing.

This hails from the BHO era and the communist push to 'integrate' neighborhoods. MoCo Maryland has been overrun by illegals to whom the county is giving millions in handouts.
,'
If even the county executive Elrich, hardly a 'moderate,' is against the measure, the stench is even stronger.

Imagine your neighbor selling his house and, in its place, the buyer decides to put up multi-family housing. In the middle of your quiet middle class neighborhood.

Neighboring Howard County, Maryland is toying with similar measures. Coming soon to your neighborhood?!?! Vote against communism in November.

We have a commie in the building.

This is not about freedom, it's about changing the zoning laws to impose communist social engineering.

So you think your neighbor has the right to tear down his single family home in a residential neighborhood and build a multi story Section 8?

It’s why we have zoning laws dumbass

Eric Holder, Obama's Director of the IRS who was subpoenaed by & subsequently cited for contempt of Congress for ignoring the subpoena, has been working on this since appointed by biden on his second day of office. He's been working on a bill to restrict Federal money to contractors who continue to build single-family housing. This is just another leftist bill which goal is to bring poo family housing into the suburbs.

Yes unless there’s an HOA you agreed to be a part of when purchasing the home

Arlington nearby already did it. They propped it up as a major civil rights win.

ETA: it will just create more renters. Not buyers.

One reason why my kids are in such a good school district…. There are no multi family residence such as apartments. The feds have been dangling money ?? to the local county to change that. Communists need to go to hell.

Granted, that is true, but if you purchase in a single family home neighborhood, those neighborhoods should remain zoned that way via a grandfather clause. Find commercial land and rezone that, rather than upset the neighborhood and turn it into something else other than what the original homeowners bought into.

I vehemently disagree with this right now but one of the problems with a growing population is that there is only so much earth for homes. While America has a ton of uninhabited land much of that is protected either federally or as farm land - which we need. Eventually we will have to get rid of single-family housing unless we want to open up vast swaths of federally owned land, which I am supportive of, or force sell farm land.

A temporary solution to that is to stop having every federal agency in existence in the DC/Baltimore area though. Move those agencies to other parts of the country and you free up land in that area.

Why does it have to be temporary?

I agree and I'd love for it to be something like, every 10-15 years agency headquarters change. That will never be something that is approved by Congress though. I think you could get a restructuring of agency headquarters through Congress if it was presented as a permanent thing. Then, once the move is made, in a few years you make it rotating.

I’d rather see Congress just eliminate several agencies but that’s not happening either.
