That's called going down the rabbit holes. And there are soooo many of them, aren't there? And I love all of them.
A dangerous source of rabbit holes is the bibliography listing the author's sources. Oh boy!

Apparently they are 'in negotations' with the DoE.
The list of 14 has not been released but Cornell, Vanderbilt and Georgetown are almost certainly on that list.

U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights Secures 31 Agreements with Colleges and Universities to End Partnerships with The Ph.D. Project

All but 14 of the 45 universities placed under investigation for participating in the PhD Project and allegedly violating civil rights law have agreed to cease partnering with the organization, the Education Department announced Thursday.
The Office for Civil Rights launched the investigations last March, arguing that the PhD Project, a nonprofit organization that connects prospective business doctoral candidates from underrepresented backgrounds with academic networks, was “limiting eligibility based on the race of participants.”
This is the Trump effect in action: institutions of higher education are agreeing to cut ties with discriminatory organizations, recommitting themselves to abiding by federal law, and restoring equality of opportunity on campuses across the nation,” said U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon. “We are hopeful that other institutions with similarly discriminatory practices will follow suit, paving the way for a future where we reject judging individuals by the color of their skin and once again embrace the principles of merit, excellence, and opportunity.”
The institutions which have signed RAs with OCR to cease their partnership with The Ph.D. Project are:
Arizona State University – Main Campus
Boise State University
Carnegie Mellon University
Clemson University
Duke University
Emory University
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
Montana State University – Bozeman
New York University (NYU)
Rice University
The Ohio State University – Main Campus
Towson University
Tulane University
University of Arkansas – Fayetteville
University of California – Berkeley
University of Chicago
University of Cincinnati – Main Campus
University of Colorado – Colorado Springs
University of Delaware
University of Kentucky
University of Michigan – Ann Arbor
University of Minnesota – Twin Cities
University of Nebraska – Omaha
University of North Dakota – Main Campus
University of North Texas – Denton
University of Notre Dame
University of Utah
University of Wisconsin – Madison
University of Wyoming
Washington University in St. Louis
Yale University
OCR is in ongoing negotiations with the remaining 14 schools.
Background
Title VI prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in education programs and activities receiving federal funding.

Every day. Reading for at least half hour each day is non-negotiable. And it has been shown to make a big difference in cognitive health.
We do not watch much TV at all. Maybe an hour a day. Most stuff is idiotic.
Goal this year is to read 30 books. Chump change compared to friends and some people on the book board.

Surely you know at least this much: those were Anglicized names.
Matthew was Levi.
Luke was a Gentile whose real name was Lucas (he hung out with Paul not Jesus )
Mark hung out with Peter not Jesus.
And John was Yochanan.
You're welcome!

Definitely not q---r.
Definitely Jewish: hung out with 12 guys to have a quorum (minyan) of 13 men for Jewish prayers.
Was probably waiting for mom to vet some Jewish girls for an arranged marriage.
He was a rabbi, a teacher, that was his job.

I 'think' that there is an attempt by some county sheriffs in deep blue Maryland (sheriffs in the whiter, more conservative counties of the state, not many) to find a way to defy the new law. I'm following with curiosity and hope they succeed!

An illegal immigrant from El Salvador was removed from the U.S. after being convicted of rape and assault in Frederick County, Maryland.
Ruben Alonso Hernandez-Lainez, 29, was taken out of the country on Jan. 30, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Hernandez-Lainez came into the states illegally in 2021.
ICE noted that they were only able to arrest and remove Hernandez-Lainez due to the 287(g) partnership with Frederick County. That program was just ended by Maryland Gov. Wes Moore.
Border patrol agents had encountered him but later released Hernandez-Lainez under a Biden administration policy.
After that, he went on to rape and assault a person, ICE said. He was arrested by the Frederick Police Department in 2023, and convicted by a judge in 2025.
He had been sentenced to three years and four months in prison, and five years of supervised probation. But in January, an immigration judge issued a final order of removal.
“After 18 years of success, this very effective partnership will be ended because of legislation passed in Maryland. Violent criminals like Hernandez will now be released and ICE will be forced to make apprehensions on the street rather a safe custody transfer in the jail. ICE agents have an enforcement mission. This will quickly prove to be disastrous legislation, and Marylanders will be at risk more than ever before," Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins said.

Chocolate kept in anti-theft boxes as shops warn it's being stolen to order
LINK
Chocolate bars are being locked in plastic boxes in some UK shops as retailers and police forces warn thieves are stealing them to order.
Sainsbury's said it had begun using "boxes on products which are regularly targeted", with £2.60 bars of Cadbury Dairy Milk locked up in one London branch.
Chocolate was more recently being "sold on by criminals and is now being targeted more frequently by prolific offenders," according to the Association of Convenience Stores (ACS).
Some individual police forces told us they had seen a specific trend of chocolate being targeted. The National Police Chiefs' Council said it was working to tackle this type of crime.
The Heart of England Co-Op group, which runs 38 stores in the West Midlands, Warwickshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire, told the BBC chocolate theft cost it £250,000 last year. It was the group's most stolen product in 2024 and topped only by alcohol in 2025, it said.
Chief executive Steve Browne told the BBC chocolate theft was a "massive issue".
"In a particular shop, one individual could cost us thousands of pounds in a week," he said. "They were coming in... then literally swiping the whole shelf."
He said a shelf of chocolate could be worth £500 and the group had spent £3m on security and other measures to prevent thefts.
Paul Cheema, owner of Malcom's convenience stores in Coventry, said: "Chocolate is the new buzzword for organised crime.
"It was razors, cheese, coffee. Today, these people that are taking stock from convenience stores, from supermarkets, it's taken to order. So chocolate is primetime now."
Cheema said stock was sold on "whether it goes back into another convenience store, a cafe, a bar, restaurant. It's prolific at the moment," adding that shoplifters easily take "£200, maybe £250 of chocolate in the back of a rucksack".
In order to tackle chocolate theft, the ACS says shopkeepers need more help from police and stronger sentences for criminals.
Ha, not likely to see more help from the emasculated police and stronger sentences are likely to be called 'racist.' Oh Britannia.....
