Am I being unreasonable by turning the channel so my kids don’t see these commercials?

Why do you still have channels?

I solved this problem 18 months ago when I dropped cable and any live streaming service. Poof...problem solved.

I got rid of cable 7 years ago so my kids didn't have to see that crap. It actually started with Tosh.0 being on early afternoon. But now, no cable, streaming services or internet.

A refreshing way to watch the NFL!!

How old are your kids? I let mine watch this, but then I provide context so they can understand the realities of the world.

For instance, they know that transvestites are that way because of a mental condition.

They know that black people actually make up a small part of the population and don't need to be propped up to be successful. As a people they are no better or worse or no more or less important than white people. Crazy, I know.

They know that gay people are an even smaller part of the population, and we just ignore them. They are like Bruno.

Missed the entire thing so I have no idea what you’re talking about. Use your best judgment.

Anytime I watch cable TV in the room with my very young children (which is rare mostly football games).

ANY time there is a commercial break I pull up the channel guide and kill the volume. There is so much filth out there its mind boggling.

Sure one day they're going to see it. But under five years old isn't the time.

Well at least there was a white guy in a commercial. Unfortunately he is about to get pegged by that brother.

No. It's part of the reason why we don't watch at all.

You have it wrong.

Don't shield them from it, you'll only pique their curiosity. Hold their hand through it. Demystify it. Frame it the way you want it framed.

The more you try to hide something from someone, especially a child, the more they want to see it.

If you're worried about your child being "brainwashed" or whatever else. Then that speaks to your weakness as a parent.

Don't carry your child down a difficult path. Hold his hand while he walks down it himself. Explain things the way you want it explained. Don't let the opposition do this for you.

Unless your kids are like 5 years old they are seeing it anyway.

Thays old enough. Mine are both 5. I talk to them about respecting people who are different but understanding the realities of the world, things like I mentioned above. I think that's better than sheltering them from it. We lives our lives and let then live theirs.

Nope - I took the time to teach on the sinfulness of being gay and trans etc - and that life is better when you make good choices and not bad. My kids will rule the planet when they are the last normal people left.

Threw in manifest destiny - sorry whiners - God destined this land to us - if you suffered, tough luck - take it up with God - He’s sovereign and allowed it
