Can’t eliminate the federal individual income tax until you stop giving away the treasury.

I don't think people realize how much of the country is funded by federal grants and loans.

Infrastructure, environmental protection, coastal restoration, conservation programs, state level departments, farming, technology and innovation grants, business grants, etc. and it's the poorest states in the south and mid-west that are most reliant on these grants.

I have a relative that has a fed job based on a farming or landtype grant.
He works from home and does absoluelty nothing but draw a check and go out and look at ponds/land to see if they need a pond in a small county in Arkansas. He "moves his mouse" a couple times a day and draws a check. Absolutely a waste of money.

Your argument isn’t going to have the desired outcome you’re looking for. End it all and start over. Almost 100% of these agencies and projects are filled with corruption and grift. The only way to fix it is to burn it down and rebuild.

If they pass an audit and the service is a benefit to the American people, what do you have to worry about? Funding will be restored

Many of these grants are for helping small businesses overcome the cost of entry barrier in different industries. There is no way that many small businesses can comply with legal and environmental regulations without financial assistance.

Environmental protection is needed. (Not talking about GHGs). Discharges and releases of significant pollutants need to be monitored and regulated.

After being mostly absent during the last 4 years, the Decatur Klan has sprung out of the shadows and started cope posting again.

It’s so nice to have them back and concerned about federal gov again.

All rife with fraud.

One little storm is going to wipe out all that work around Shell Beach and Hopedale.

and Louisiana (specifically) does a piss poor job of managing and utilizing those grants. I'm as sympathetic as anyone to coastal erosion and environmental protection. But when the costs are unsustainable, you have to regroup. We have to have programs to address these needs, but we cannot continue to mismanage funds. Its simply too expensive. Oh, and, ethically wrong too!

I think this is headed to the Supreme Court. The below article was written by Mark Paoletta, who is Trump's pick for Chief Counsel of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB, Orange Man Bad, great name)

Trump is right about the Impoundment Control Act — it’s unconstitutional

quote:

The Impoundment Control Act was a radical break from longstanding constitutional understanding and norms. This legislation, passed during the depths of the Watergate scandal, purports to practically eliminate the president’s longstanding and constitutional power of impoundment. Not only is the Impoundment Control Act thus substantively unconstitutional because it conflicts with the president’s Article II impoundment power, Congress chose unconstitutional means to achieve the act’s unconstitutional ends.

The Impoundment Control Act relies on an unconstitutional mechanism for its enforcement. The law vests enforcement authority in the comptroller general, head of the Government Accountability Office. This arrangement is unconstitutional for several reasons. For one, the comptroller is appointed for a 15-year term and is removable only by Congress. For this reason, in Bowsher v. Synar, the Supreme Court held that it was unconstitutional for Congress to assign executive functions to the comptroller. Yet the act expressly tasks the comptroller with the executive function of enforcing the act’s provisions by audits and vests the comptroller with the right to sue the executive branch to force expenditure of appropriated funds.
