Not bad for a high school drop out. It's too bad they can't manage their expenses.

1/3 make $200K or more. That $200K will jump to $354K per year in salary alone if they get the raise they're bleating for.
I just found where you’re getting this number from. That’s how much they make on the west coast. Those ports are still open. Those longshoremen are part of a different Union.

The ILA contract that expired on Monday shows that the starting pay for dockworkers was $20 per hour. Pay rises to $24.75 after two years, $31.90 after three and tops out at $39 for workers with at least six years on the job.
The east coast and gulf ports that are shut down are run by members of the ILA.
If some of you were to put even half as much energy as you use to be outraged into actually research, you would learn something.

99.9 percent of this board is closer to them than they are to any CEO, they just don’t want to admit it

Maybe you can save the jobs of buggy whip makers.

Even closer when you find out they actually make about 1/3 of that……and that the OP is referencing the salaries of West Coast longshoremen who have nothing to do with this strike.

I always love uneducated post like these. Over the last 20 years CEO pay has went from 1 million a year to 30 million plus a year. Why the workers pay was stagnant.
"Uneducated." you say, then you immediately type "...has went..."
I would expect someone who questions the education of others to be able to use proper grammar and conjugate verbs in their various versions of past tense correctly. Despite your inability to conjugate properly, I still believe you received a good education. Unfortunately, I also believe your education may have overwhelmed your intellectual capabilities.

So 20$ an hour for an entry level person and up to 39$ an hour for a skilled hand. Still seems pretty fair to me for a forklift operator.

You think they wont just go back on strike if any progress is made towards automation?
That will just ensure that the progress happens faster.

200k???? Where did you get that number?
Larry Kudkow just said they make 39 per hour.
They are asking for a 5 dollar raise each of the next 6 years.
Those numbers add up to the 80% raise I keep hearing about.
Pay them for now. But don’t agree to no automation.

33% make more than $200k in the NY/NJ ports as well. Check page 19 of the Waterfront Commission report LINK
Harold Daggett made a gross salary of $728,694 as President of the ILA last year.
The Executive Vice President of the ILA made $388,422 in gross salary. Guess who the Executive VP is?
...Dennis Daggett, Harold Daggett's son LINK
This is all fine, all on the up and up.
Check out pages 23-32 of that Waterfront Commission report where they run through the criminals and organized crime links of the union.

Their top out is $39hr so the 200k number doesn't add up unless some insane amount of overtime is involved which I seriously doubt.

You don’t know what this means. You can explicate this supposed data point beyond the bumper sticker. You should shut up before people notice how stupid you are.

If I was the ports, I'd agree to their demands with the caveat that all union leaders can only be paid the average hourly wage without overtime. Then I'd let all the workers know that I gave them their raises, but the bosses are holding up the deal because they won't make hundreds of thousands anymore. I'd also add to the contract that union dues are cut in half, so "the workers have more take home pay."
If the workers can demand the employers not use automation, then the employers can demand a limit on union boss wages and dues.

okay.. lets pretend that all the CEO's of Fortune 500 companies UNIONIZED and agreed to shut down their companies, Energy, Food Production, Waste Removal, Private Hospitals.... Until their pay got increased?
CEO Pay is free market driven.
A Union has a monopoly on labor and points a loaded gun to the heads of every single American until they can subvert the wages above the free market value of their labor.

Cut any major company’s CEO salary to zero and spread that amount to the employees evenly.
Report back.
Silliness.
