According to Michael Leavitt, his son has lived with him in New Hampshire since he was born. Although the little boy lives with his father and stepmother, Ferreira has maintained a relationship with her son, Michael Leavitt said.

The child has lived with his dad since he was born. This headline is just an attempt at some kind of gotcha that the press secretary’s brother knocked up an illegal some years back. Maybe they were in a relationship, maybe it was a one night stand, don’t know, don’t care.

If ISDs like Lamar weren't drowning in bond debt, maybe voters wouldn't be pushing for this, because one billion dollar bond after another keeps getting passed. Katy and Lamar love to bitch about "growth" but completely ignore that an additional 1,000 homes on formerly unimproved land bring the ISD close to ten million dollars in revenue a year to go with those additional kids.

I agree that the bonds are out of control and vote them down in my district as well. Unfortunately the screwy way that Texas school finance is set up, that $10 million in additional school taxes those new homes are bringing in can't actually go to building new schools to put those kids in. They can go to Maintenance and Operations (salaries, utilities, transportation, etc) or Interest & Sinking (debt payments for bonds) but voters have to pass bonds to fund new capital expenditures. And if your district starts bringing in TOO MUCH money in ISD taxes, don't think that will solve your problems either. No, in that case you will become a "recapture district" and have to send money to the state to be "redistributed" to other districts through the most opaque slush fund system.
It makes sense and I support it - the optics of Congress getting paid while military, ATC and federal workers don't are terrible.

But in reality, Congressional pay is ~$174,000/year. Not chump change by any means, but also not what most members are actually living on. Most had fairly lucrative careers before they were elected, and of course we know many of their bank accounts tend to inflate pretty quickly once they are in office. Schumer is worth about $7 million, Hakeem Jeffries $2 million and she's retiring now but of course Pelosi was never going to cut her BS over a measly $174k. This would only actually be felt by new members and those not benefitting from the grift (yet).
She works at Palantir and is co-author of a book about restoring American industry. Some of y’all missed the sarcasm.

re: What God says about Israel

Posted by Lightning on 11/4/25 at 11:50 am to
All of those verses are in there. So are these:

Joshua 23:15-16 But just as all the good things the Lord your God has promised you have come to you, so he will bring on you all the evil things he has threatened, until the Lord your God has destroyed you from this good land he has given you. If you violate the covenant of the Lord your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods and bow down to them, the Lord’s anger will burn against you, and you will quickly perish from the good land he has given you.

Judges 2:20-23 Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel and said, “Because this nation has violated the covenant I ordained for their ancestors and has not listened to me, I will no longer drive out before them any of the nations Joshua left when he died. I will use them to test Israel and see whether they will keep the way of the Lord and walk in it as their ancestors did.” The Lord had allowed those nations to remain; he did not drive them out at once by giving them into the hands of Joshua.

2 Kings 17:18-20 So the Lord was very angry with Israel and removed them from his presence. Only the tribe of Judah was left, and even Judah did not keep the commands of the Lord their God. They followed the practices Israel had introduced. Therefore the Lord rejected all the people of Israel; he afflicted them and gave them into the hands of plunderers, until he thrust them from his presence.

Judges, Kings, and Chronicles are just Israel screwing up, God getting angry with them and allowing them to be defeated and enslaved, so I won't bother quoting them all but there is a lot of "Again the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord..." and "the Lord's anger burned against them." The prophets were constantly telling Israel to quit screwing up, warning they would face repercussions.

Point being that Israel does not have carte blanche, some sort of God-given "Get out of jail/slavery/destruction free" card. There are MANY biblical examples of Israel being in the wrong and getting punished for it - sometimes by God directly, often times by allowing them to suffer at the hands of others. I think they have a right to exist as a modern nation, they have a right to defend their borders and retaliate against those who attack them. I don't think they are divinely infallible.
What exactly does she want Dave in the lighting department to do about it? Is he supposed to go out there in his Home Depot apron to tangle with armed ICE agents to save Juan and Jorge, who he doesn’t even know?

These are only the 2 they caught. Dude fought 10 thugs singlehandedly and ended up a little bloody, yeah he can keep the name.
The American mafia, “La Cosa Nostra” also didn’t exist. J. Edgar and the FBI insisted there was no organized crime in America. There were just friends getting together for dinner and conversation and you were an anti-Italian bigot if you thought there was more to it than that.

They tried this before and they aren’t even changing the script. It’s sad, get some new material. It’s also absurd that they are trying this “doesn’t exist” line with Trump, a real estate man from Queens, in the Oval Office. As if he doesn’t remember Giuliani wrecking shop against the New York mafia with RICO statutes. As if he isn’t doing the same thing right now finding the organizations funding Antifa to tie it all together.

I know it may seem useless to you right now, but don’t worry, there is someone out there for everyone. He doesn’t want that, he has specified he doesn’t want kids. Which is fine and people who don’t want kids shouldn’t have them. But as he said, that does severely limit his dating pool, as most women around his age do want kids or already have them. Not sure if he also didn’t want kids when he was younger, but that would also limit the dating pool. There are many younger women who don’t want kids, but traditionally minded women who want marriage also usually want children. Men looking for a traditional values woman also have to be a traditional values man.

quote:

For me I could probably find a woman, but at my age (41), I really don't want kids. That severely limits the dating pool. I've largely become okay never being married. At this point in my life, giving up my freedom and autonomy would be difficult. And I just don't see myself finding a woman that I would love enough to be willing to give up that freedom and autonomy.

I know they had a synagogue attack in England a couple of days ago that was reported in the news but have there been any synagogue attacks in the U.S. lately? There have certainly been church attacks lately.

Not a couple of days ago, yesterday. On Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the year for Jews. The most recent US synagogue attack I’m aware of was in 2022, in Colleyville, TX by a British-Pakistani Muslim.
It is dumb. Unfortunately the people attacking synagogues aren’t the highest IQ members of society, so they are easily manipulated.

Since when does a mayor run a school district?

NYC is odd (shocker) and have what is called "mayoral control" over their school system. Mamdani is simultaneously campaigning on ending that control, while also talking about the changes he would make to the schools as mayor... :dunno:

quote:

Unlike most city leaders, New York City’s mayor exerts near-complete control over its school system, with the chief executive able to unilaterally select the schools chancellor and dictate education policy priorities.

Zohran Mamdani, the current frontrunner in November’s race, has campaigned on ending mayoral control and giving students, parents, and educators more influence over the school system — though he has shared few details about how that would work.

IF Republican Senators actually wanted to effect change in the federal government, they could:

* Let Trump and Russ Vought make sweeping program cuts and drastic RIFs to downsize government agencies. Send out 60 day RIF notices.

* Pass the Pay Our Troops Act of 2026 when the House comes back in session on October 7. This ensures the military will continue getting paid, eliminating one of the main talking points against government shutdown.

* Once those cuts have been made, use the nuclear option to eliminate the 60 vote filibuster.

* Pass the CR with a simple majority and re-open government.

* RIF 60 day notices are still pending. Those RIF plans can be revised if Dems want to participate in good faith budget negotiations, or if they want to continue to advocate for outrageous demands, they can be the reason large numbers of federal workers lose their jobs right before Christmas.

This would require at least 51 Republicans to play ball on the nuclear option and CR vote though, and history shows at least a few will wimp out.
NBC is also reporting that WIC could run out of money in a week or two if the government does not reopen. Picking illegals over American infants and children? LINK

According to the National WIC Association, a nonprofit advocacy organization that represents state and local WIC agencies, “devastating disruptions” may deny millions of moms and children access to nutritious foods if the government remains closed for longer than a week or two.

I agree with you but JK Rowling was also called out on this very post for her continued support for "migrants" to the UK. It was pointed out that just like Emma's wealth insulates her from the day to day reality of men cosplaying women in private spaces, Rowling's wealth insulates her from "migrants."

Even better - watch the longer video posted on the previous page. Hear the officer saying "He's running toward CSP"?

That's right, this genius was running from his crime and the police pursuing him, right into the parking lot of a Colorado State Patrol office.
