Regarding your premise though, there are good CEOs, and there are bad CEOs.
You say "nobody is tying up their investment money in a company with a shite CEO." Were that true, Boeing, Disney, Walgreens, Nike and a host of others would be out of business. Were they publicly traded and if "nobody is tying up their investment money in a company with a shite CEO," about 3/4ths of US Hospitals would be reduced to penny stocks.
There is a huge gap between the supply and demand for very good/elite CEOs

I said this the other day..... A monkey can be trained to do their jobs. They aren't performing critical lifts using huge friction cranes!
Basically use a joy stick to move 4 directions.
Whatever labor longshoremen perform, any able bodied person can be trained to do.
Remember when the auto workers screwed themselves over this same way??
