Drive a Ram now - could not ignore reviews/awards. Love it.

Could easily go back to GM

Only thing I like about Ford is the key pad. Such unattractive trucks.

I will not drive Japanese trucks.

Take the Sierra and Silverado off that list. I have 3 co-workers that each have one or the other. All 3 have had their transmissions replaced. We average 50,000mi a year for work. The tundras have held up with no issues. I had a tundra, as well as 2 others. We got 275,000-300,000 with no issues. I’m currently running an F-150 because the tundra seats killed my back and one guy just bought a ram. I have 115,000 on my f-150 and no issues. Fingers crossed.

Stock 2017 4x4 F150 here. Lower model with FX4 sport package in it.

Does all I need it to do and more.

That said, since purchasing I think Ford has gone overboard with forcing everyone into expensive features that I don’t look for in a truck, so it is likely this is the last Ford I own.

Absolutely not. Cruise control is still optional on the XL trim.

2016 F150 4WD Lariat is paid off with 142K miles. No issues to-date.

I am currently leaning towards a Ram for my next truck. It will not be any time soon with the current market and mine being paid for however.

I will not own another GM truck.

1. Driving a 21 Ram Laramie, this is my 5th Ram and I do LOVE it, I have become a fanboy of these Rams. Had a 2016 Ford F150, no complaints, but my brother and good friend can't say the same. I had a 2014 Z71 LTZ - absolute JUNK.

2. My advice on towing, if you think you are going to tow close to your tow rating, go with a 3/4 ton truck. The Ram tows fine, better than my 16 Ford, but the Ford had the 6 speed. These 8 and 10 speeds make a world of difference. One thing about stock Ford shocks is they fade. How many Fords you see going down the road with a load sagging like crazy? I see more than others. I had replaced mine with ICON's and solved the problem.

3. The 12" display in the Rams has a better, more crisp appearance than the F150 12" display in my opinion. Certain Ram's now have powersteps from the factory (mine does). I hate the new Fords grille(s). Hate the mirrors on the GM's. It's fine to move the mirrors onto the body and off the window, but don't put a blank plate on the window where the mirror was.

Final thoughts: I would more than likely pick the GMC Sierra with the 3.0 Duramax as my second choice. The 5.3 is an absolute turd. Pretty good at towing, but just a turd on open road. I would only shy away from the Titan. Everybody knows what the Tundra's are, but I can't pay those prices for a 99 Camry interior. Just drive them, sit in them and pick what's best for you.

Absolutely. Told the wife that when I bought this XLT in 2019. Will likely be the last F150 I buy. They are making all the expensive options standard and they are just getting too damn expensive.

So you can go from no cruise control, to cruise control with heated steering wheel and seats, sliding back glass, cameras, leather and upgraded wheels and tires, but not much in between.

I’m talking about the stuff in between the min and max. It is very hard to find in Fords these days.

oil pressure issues and the unreliable transmissions they can't figure out knocks GM off this list at #1.

Yeah my 05 Z71 with the 5.3 has over 195k and has called resided in 6 states.

Since I don't care about tech, gadgets and heated doodads, I have a 19 Tundra that I enjoy beating around.

Drove a 3/4 ton GMC 1500 HD for 6 years. Gas. Had 247K mikes on it when I sold it. Pulled a lot of trailers, boats, etc... pulled big tandem axle trailer up through Colorado every year for elk hunting with UTV and 4 wheeler. Had a stone business at the time and probably picked up 25-30 pallets of white Portland cement (3500+ pounds) across town over a 4 year period when we ran low and brought them to our facility. Truck was super reliable with just routine maintenance. Got rid of it when knock sensor went out. Too much trouble to change on a vehicle with that many miles. Sold it and bought a Ford F-250 with 6.7L. Engine on Ford has been good. The DEF, the ERG valves, the radio, wipers, etc... have been nothing but trouble. Crack in center console plastic chrome trim, bubble on plastic chrome grill. Rotors and brakes way undersized for a truck this heavy. First and last Ford. Back to GMC for me.

I feel like this is more on the dealership than on Ford, they order them with all the bells and whistles because they know someone will come in and buy them with all the bells and whistles.

I dealt with that when I bought my F250 in 2012. I wanted a XL or XLT, not a Lariat or King Ranch(ok, I couldn't afford a Lariat or KR). Of the two dealerships in my area I went to both each had over 30 F250s, one dealer had ONLY Lariat and KR trim, the other had 1 XL, 2 XLTs, and the rest were all Lariats and KR.

Even still poking around Ford's site I spec'ed a 2021 XLT F250 FX4 almost identical to my 2012 and still came to a similar price(~$54k), the King Ranch is up around $80k, holy shite.

Had an 07 Silverado. Good truck. Then a '15 Sierra. Even better truck. Only sold it to get the features of the Ram. '15 was the last year without Android Auto. That's a must for me.
