The food at one of the restaurants is really good. Get the oyster appetizer.

The NOLA WW2 museum was highly influenced by writer/historian Stephen Ambrose. Check out some of his books. It started as a slow walk, read/listen think museum as opposed to spectacular exhibit space. Allow 2 days. There are plenty of lodging opts nearby, but Convention Center events can book them out. Check an events catalog and pick an open few days.

You don't have to go into the Quarter that scares some people to enjoy the city. The Aquarium is close by and City Park an easy ride away.

My dad and I are huge WW2 buffs. I bought him an "into the vault" tour a couple years ago for Christmas. We got to hold several guns and see some cool maps from the war. That was an awesome time.

I have to chuckle at the HQ-1 bumper number on it!

All I can say is to pick one route and work your way through it. There was too much to do in one trip when I went with my dad.

Definitely get a map and find the areas you are most interested in so you don’t waste time

Yep, don't waste time, but TAKE the time. There's a lot to cover so prepare and plan which theatres of the war you are most interested in. Also, there are lots of homeless camps under the nearby interstate bridges, so just be aware when outside the museum. The museum is a great experience. Enjoy.
