I was a troubled youth and got caught stealing at around 14.
My mom drove me straight to the police station.
I thank her for doing that, a lot.

If someone killed you.. No matter who it was.. I would laugh then not say a word.
If I had a kid and he/she killed someone else's child, yes. Im sure it would be hard, but my parents always told us that whatever you do, you have to take responsibility for it so don't ever expect them to do us any favors so that's kind of how I see things.
What kind of society would we have if everyone's parents did everything they could to protect their kid, if their kid was guilty of crimes like murder?

I used to work with a guy who did that.
Random cold blooded murder of two teens who had parked in a remote area to make out. The killer had used a very uncommon gun to do the shootings so the cops traced down every sale of that type of gun in the area to talk to the owners. Guy I worked with came up on the list, so he asked his kid who he had given the gun to about it. Kid refused to talk to cops or hand over the gun which naturally aroused suspicion. Dad confronted the kid and he confessed the killing to the dad. Dad turned him in and testified at his trial which was a death penalty case.
I think the dad knew his kid was a budding serial killer. Shooting random kids in a parked car points to that. And he obviously knew his kids other social problems.

My mom did this stupid shite too me too. I had to pay $200 in restitution for broken car windows.
I learned nothing from that. The dude/victim was a racist and called Chris Jackson a greasy n word while playing basketball with us in the street one day. He also was a huge Bear Bryant fan. My only regret is that he had only one car windshield we could smash.

Anyone watched the Showtime limited series 'Your Honor' with Bryan Cranston?
It was filmed in and is set in New Orleans. Cranston is a judge whose son accidently killed the son of a prominent family.
He did everything possible, include using his position as a judge to frame someone else in order to protect his only child and well.. I am not going to spoil it, but I am sure it made a lot of people think if they would go that far to protect their child.

For something like murder or rape, abso freaking lutely.
I’m not hiding my kid for something really serious like that when they already knew that was really wrong

I will let you know if I ever have to face this scenario.
As of now all my kids have no criminal tendencies and all work hard, and good people.

Option E: Raise kid to value human life and not commit a major crime.

No one can answer this with any accuracy until they are actually in that situation.
The only correct response.

I'm certain this scenario would prove so alarming and stressful that most people would stumble through the cover-up and leave multiple clues behind.
Not everyone's gonna be as cunning as a Walter White or a Dexter Morgan when the shite hits the fan and you've gotta make these decisions in short order, under extreme pressure with your kid's life hanging in the balance.

the problem is a parents desire to believe and be deceived by our children.

My daughter is only 5 months, so I'm not sure what crimes she could commit
In the future? No.

I have a flip story of that.
A friend of mine parents got their home broken into. It wasn’t just a break in. Destroyed everything. Wrote threats on the wall, put blood all over family pictures, ripped the heads off of every picture. Pretty scary experience for his parents. He was waiting in the house for them to get home. Fortunately a neighbor heard noises and called my friend to come check it out and the police caught the guy sneaking out. He had been there for hours.
Turns out the kid has had a lot of mental issues and a very wealthy mom and dad have just bought their way out of every single problem and are trying to pay my friends parents to make it go away.
I completely understand the implications of loving their kid, even in a declining mental health situation, but it’s pretty hard to have mercy when you learn it wasn’t their first time.

I'm not doing anything that could cause me to go to jail.
I wouldn't be surprised if this guy's parents end up getting charged as accessories after the fact or obstruction.
