It depends. Does she have a professional motive to keep her maiden name? Does she want to honor a deceased father by keeping his name alive? Understandable. If it's just feminist crap, I doubt we would have made it to the proposal stage in the first place.

Depends who her family is, just your average marriage like mine, no. Say if you were marrying someone like Paris Hilton where her last name is worth a whole hell of a lot more than mine, I wouldn't care if she changed it at all. Hell I would take her last name even.

The only time I care is when people do this to their kids. If you have a son with a hyphenated name & he gets married, is his new wife supposed to take the hyphenated name? Add her maiden name to it?

My wife kept her name. I don't give a shite. Her name is a lot cooler than mine. The kid has my name.

Hate to break it to you baws but some women are successful in life prior to you winning them over. Some may have an established career and well known in her field, somw may have published several peer reviewed scientific papers, etc...

I cared at first until I realized it is kind of stupid and doesn't really mean anything. I mean, what difference does it make? She wanted to keep it because her dad has all daughters and she is really close with her family and proud of her name. Who am I to say she can't carry that on for her dad for at least the rest of her life?
