My wife never changed hers. Physician, practices with her name. I could care less since the kid has mine, all I care about.

Okay if it's something that's a part of a long held culture, but if its a western woman that wants her name hyphenated then shes probably one of those crazy feminists, and not the good kind. Not always, but I would bet on it.

She either takes my last name or she keeps her name as it is entirely.

People who use this as an example for hyphening are ignorant to the latin cultures reason for doing so. It's not for the same reasons. it's to try to narrow a person down from an identity purpose. Other wise you'll have a million Jose Martinez's. So they go back a few gens on their IDs to be able to distinguish themselves. The women does take on her husbands name as her primary, and her maiden name isnt dragged along with a hyphen creating a new last name. Totally 100% in no way the same as women who want to do this. The comparison is stupid.

Would I still want to marry the woman? Yes. Would I talk her out of hyphenating? Yes. There are legit reasons, especially for couples marrying later in life, for the woman just to keep her name. I would prefer she just did that.
