It’s the first time in history that Louisiana planned ahead for anything. Don’t bitch.

What were they planning for? Amazon HQ2 in New Roads? Otherwise it was a collosal waste of money

Fishing is virtually dead in False River. It's a rec lake now.

pretty much don’t think I’m going too far out on a limb to surmise you would bitch about paying a toll.
And yet I have a HCTRA toll tag on my windshield for my trips to Houston. Guess I’m not as opposed to tolls as you imagine.
And my bitching about traffic is in regards to the stupid drivers here and lack of infrastructure or maintenance, despite the existing gas tax we’ve been paying for 20+ years.
What makes privately funded toll roads so difficult? Shitty investment and thus no interest? Too much bureaucratic BS and thus no interest? Or is it so difficult to do business with the state, that there’s no interest?

Yes. Not as much profit, if any, compared to large cities.

The legislature required it, state law. then it went to a vote and the citizens who voted approved it. Google TIMED program. An example of why people should be involved and informed.

As I said earlier, the Audubon Bridge was supposed to have been built 30 years ago, which would have coincided with the construction of the nuclear plant. Politics as usual was involved with delaying it's construction. As I recall they decided to build the westbound side of the Crescent City Connection bridge instead of the Audubon Bridge because they wanted the CCC bridge to be completed in time for the World's Fair. After that they basically just continued putting it off and delaying it for other projects. The nuclear plant though was definitely part of the reason the bridge was built where it was. I know this because I had a relative that was on the planning committee for that bridge back in the early 80s and I also worked at that nuclear plant years ago.

What benefit will this provide?

They can build more than one bridge at a time and it is very necessary. They just need to build 2-3 more bridges now. Plus a highway system that actually pulls traffic away from the major cities. Instead of a loop, they just need to re-route I10 altogether..

This.
They couldn’t escape east, north, or south?

Small towns make money off speeding tickets and on that bridge they're always clocking because people fly over it with no visability because there's no traffic

Really? That’s you’re reasoning for building it? To have somewhere to write tickets? This idea may be the worst of all dumbass comments I’ve seen
The bridge may one day serve a great purpose. Once the oil and gas boom starts, or the industrial park is built at the base of the bridge on W.Fel side, the bridge may pay itself off.

I have no problem with the Audubon Bridge. Before it was built there was no crossing from Baton Rouge to Natchez. It had been planned for years. It’s not like it took away from a bridge Baton Rouge would have instead.
I-12 to Bush is such a mythical project. It’s been planned for years and years. For someone asking what purpose it would serve it’s to divert tons of traffic out of Covington and off La 21.

The best people to ask would be the legislators who put it in statute.

I do this all the time in any form of traffic. As long as idiots keep letting me in, I’ll keep doing it. It beats being the pissed off guy waiting in line forever.

The new St Francisville Bridge is the 2nd phase of the Grand Plan for the Grand Loop. Now that Phase 2 is complete we can now proceed to Phase 3 of the Grand Loop plan.
Note - Phase 1 was a 30 year study to determine if Baton Rouge had a need for more infrastructure over the big brown water thing that snakes north to south.
Phase 3 is a 30 year study to determine if Baton Rouge had a need for more infrastructure over the big brown water thing that snakes north to south.
Pending the compete of Phase 3 we will proceed to Phase 4 which is elimination of all planes and cars via the Green New Deal and build a 8 lane Hyper-Train to run East /West over the big brown water thing that snakes north to south.
