This is what happens when you codify projects and dynamics change after 20 years.
Back in the late 80’s when proposed the bridge might have had a greater need, but now as population shifts then you are stuck with something that may not have as big of an impact as predicted.
One thought though, how high is the bridge?
If it was built south of BR the bridge would have needed to be much much higher which would have made the project much more costly.
Also, any one know why the state never paved the section of LA 10 across the basin. So essentially have a shell portion state highway.
If built you would have made another east west route in the state.
Of course now the state did close the ferry several years ago creating another gap.

I was heading from Woodville to Pierre Part a while back and I took the St Francisville bridge to avoid going through Baton Rouge during rush hour.

I sure hope this time they put one in south BR. Got 1 in St francisville, 1 in NBR, 1 through the city, and one in Sorrento.
