I thought we were supposed to get more advanced over time
Ten times worse right now

Their workers are shite now. The older ones that gave somewhat of a frick are retiring. The younger ones are only worried about PTO and benefits.

Corrupt Government employees.

Because they're subsidized by the federal government, are mostly unfireable and they know it, and don't really give a flying frick about you or anyone.
It's an organization that would absolutely not exist if they weren't propped up by the state.

Walk into any post office and look around for about 5 minutes.
The answer will come to you.

My mail lady stops at the top of the hill and spends 15 minutes on her cell phone.

The folks that are never in a hurry to do anything, hurried up and got all the USPS jobs.

Do you really have to ask why?

Every time I order something that's shipped via USPS, I know its going to arrive at that black hole that's the St Rose Sorting Center and sit there for days on end past the original arrival date.

It takes time to sort through all those envelopes to find those gift cards to steal.

The short answer is the post office is slower because USPS is in the middle of a giant “modernization” plan that has made the system worse without making a single thing better.
They’ve been consolidating mail processing into larger regional hubs and rolling out new sorting machines. Those machines have problems including high reject rates that force mail/packages back into manual handling. So instead of “newer machine equals faster mail,” you get a bottleneck where the machine rejects a bunch of stuff and humans still have to sort it.
They also changed routing so some mail, especially from smaller or more remote areas, does not move to the processing plant the same day anymore. That saves transportation money on paper, but it obviously adds time. Smaller hubs and rural areas are the ones that feel that first.
So yeah, we are “more advanced,” but only in the beautiful American federal gov sense of spending billions redesigning a process that somehow makes the thing even worse.

Dude…..you’re supposed to blame everything on dark people and women!!
Seriously though….I mail a bunch of stuff from ebay and never had a delayed or lost package with USPS. Also, never had a lost suitcase on a flight. Lucky, I guess.

Not only slow, but they hire a lot of thieves.
I have had stuff stolen from the mail several times recently.
