He was shot 11pm Wed and found thur morning. Trash pickup in that area is a full day later. However, he could have just been bringing a bag to the can when the car pulled up.

A kid living in one of Baton Rouge's safest neighborhoods was dragged and shot in the neck. Of course, people care.... regardless of his name. Can't do that shite in that area and expect to get away with it. That's what keeps the crime out.
There's probably 200 cameras that captured the car. Wish the police would release a picture of the car so that the neighbors can all pull their video before the cameras write over the SD cards.

Cities develop and rezone all the time to accommodate the changing nature of the area and/or new priorities/learned lessons Because something was originally zoned one thing back when Clinton was president, the city can't change course prior to development? Can't learn from the shitty city planning that everyone curses every rush hour or a missive city wide flood in 2016?
Then why did every other plot of land with the same designation as this one get a higher grade/zone?
I'd need to see the zoning map, but I think they'd be arguing that the re-zoning was arbitrary and capricious or vindictive instead of the legitimacy of St. George - if the easier argument was there. My guess is that were zone differently based on the different characteristics of the properties.

Defending the zoning change isn't "preserving the neighborhoods from encroachment." It's feigning stupidity to stop something residents damn well knew was coming. If you bought next to a planned interstate interchange and land already designated for higher-intensity development, you don't get to act blindsided thirty years later when someone decides to develop it.
This might be the dumbest argument I've read on here. Cities develop and rezone all the time to accommodate the changing nature of the area and/or new priorities/learned lessons

Because developers have the money and ear of state and especially local regulators. And any time something more stringent than the status quo is proposed they throw a fit and it gets killed.
You even see it at the federal level with some of these executive orders pushing for bypassing regulations in favor of more development.
How do they get passed in nearly every other city?
Permeable paving should be a no brainer in Louisiana for any large concrete parking area. .

1. They couldn't leave ANY old growth tree canopy? It's going to look awful for a long time to come. Like those shitty looking houses they are building next to/or connected to Pelican Lakes.
2. That shite is flooding so badly right now that it's hard to imagine pushing it all into the city's storm system or a retention pond will remedy the situation.

Exactly this. Well said. For the love of God, I hope St. George has better city planning and won't get pushed around like Baton Rouge. This is where change is made. Right now.
TREES
Cities like Charlotte require 40–50% canopy in new mixed-use district. New developments must plant enough trees to achieve canopy coverage at maturity, not just plant a few saplings. Tree Save Program requiring 10–15% of the site to be preserved as tree save area. Street trees required every 40 feet on both sides of the street.
Baton Rouge has no canopy target. No tree-save percentage requirement. Only requires 10% landscaped area, which can be grass, shrubs, or small trees — not canopy. Street tree spacing is recommended, not strongly enforced.
RAIN
Charlotte requires first 1-inch rainfall retention on-site. Mandatory bioretention, bioswales, tree trenches, and permeable paving in many districts. Watershed-based modeling required.
Baton Rouge requires detention but not retention. No requirement to treat the first inch of rainfall. Green infrastructure is optional, not required. No watershed-based modeling.
WTF does Charlotte have better rain requirements than Baton rouge? Baton rouge averages 62.8 inches of rain to Charlotte's 43.1 inches
SIDEWALKS
Charlotte requires: 8–12 ft sidewalks; 6–8 ft planting strips; Continuous street trees; and Pedestrian-scaled lighting.
Baton Rouge requires sidewalks only in certain districts. No minimum planting strip width. No continuous shade requirement. Streetscape cross-sections exist but are rarely enforced outside new subdivisions.

Ever heard of dowries? The idea of the parents buying a home for the new couple goes back to 1754 BC Babylon, in the bible 1000 BC, and Greeks 500 BC. You get the idea. It just mean "early inheritance" and has been around since recorded history.

What do you want to do? Put more cement and fences up? City park golf course rocks and provides a nice green, open space for the neighborhood. If you want additional revenue, fix up the clubhouse so that it can host events.

All lights at least need motion sensors on non dominant lanes

Mostly posting this for anyone considering it in the future (as I can't check to see if passes for the 1st are sold out)
I've only seen one but I really enjoyed the experience. I went to"
Jetty Park Beach, Campground, and Fishing Pier, 100 Jetty Park Dr, Port Canaveral, FL 32920, United States, which the internet says is only 1 mile to the pad.
The park was great. Got out there early. Had some sandwiches and a few drinks. Talked to some people. As it get closer to the launch everyone begins walking to the beach or down the fishing pier. It gets pretty crowded so you may want to move onto the pier early and sit down/bring a chair.

It's not a fact. Educate yourself before posting. The older data centers use a lot of water. The newer ones don't use much water at all. Microsoft is building the world's "first AI super factory" in Atlanta and it uses other liquids for cooling.
Ultimately, it’s all moving so fast that it’s hard for anyone to keep up with and rarely does that coincide with billionaires making decisions that are good for you and I
Yup, industry makes the decision that maximizes shareholder value unless their is a reason not to... This can often result in "irrational" or "harmful" long term decisions in favor of short term savings. Local government and potential future liability can serve as the only checks on this process by ensuring that the long term needs are accounted for and weighed at the outset of a project.

I watched a night launch and land from Jetty Park. I absolutely loved it.. Very cool experience seeing the booster turn around and come back at you.
The press conference yesterday said 80% change of a going forward with that launch, but 8 hours is a lot. Maybe get a backup plan of disney for a day if it falls through.

I don't think this is true. It's highly disputed.
The LSU geology department published a publication that called them the oldest man made structures in Americas. However, there methods have largely been debunked. no one ran with that story. They are doing better tests to pinpoint the date.
