been doing it since the boys got older. Bought them ETFs for Christmas presents, tell them about budgets, saving for what you want, not going into debt.

I would settle for a basic finance class.

If you think about marriage as an agreement for sex in any capacity then I suppose prostitution is what you should stick to.

Alternative theory would be to really think beyond the first page of the book and how you both think the rest of the story looks like.

Can't say i thought life would turn out the way it has but I wouldnt change my marriage for anything at this point. Im 16 years in and hope the crescendo of life with my wife continues.

My wife drives me to be better and I encourage her to the best of my ability. Constructive vs destructive mentality.

I was asking ChatGPT about the public school system in the USA. Whether or not public school around the country provide less of a quality education than it did... 20.. 30 years ago and that the reality of public schools in the US today is to at the least provide the opportunity for people to learn the basics. And that if someone who graduates from high school you know they are able to at least function at a certain level. That's not the exact words, but that a lot is left for people to have to figure out.

It also said that children learn most of what they know from their living environment, which is the biggest indicator of their future, not whether or not they were good or bad students in high school.

Someone I know, who works at a public school and is working summer school was telling me that the schools feed the kids in summer school and that those who attend are expected to go get a lunch. They don't care what they do with it, they just need them to scan their card to account for that meal because the school gets so much money.. I guess depending on how many kids eat. So for the people running these schools, they care more about making sure kids get a lunch... Not whether or not they eat it, but what is that teaching them? If you want to eat you better go to school so you can get a free breakfast and lunch.

When I was in school in the 90s it cost $0.75 a day for lunch. I used to get $5 a week. My mom had a big jar filled with quarters & I got 20 quarters on money which game me a little extra jingle to get something from the vending machine once or twice during the week. On some level that gives you a responsibility to manage money. I could save the extra money and not get anything from the vending machine. And if you wanted to eat you couldn't just take that money and go do something else with it, but today, especially in public schools are not taught any responsibilities. They just have to attend every day and they get free breakfast and free lunch.

But at the minimum schools should at least teach the basic laws. If you get stopped by police and you don't comply it is their right to arrest you. If you are under arrest and you resist it is legal for the police to use force to restrain you because there are a lot of people out there who think they know all of their rights and don't know shite.

Maybe bring in a Divorce Attorney to answer questions & take a field trip and sit in a Divorce Court.

I mean... you really shouldn't be going into marriage with the expectation that you will eventually get divorced. If that's your expectation, you have no business getting married.

Yeah for real.

Generally, we could all use a little more intrusion into our personal lives.

There is no need for parents to have to teach their children anything or be examples of how to live their lives. Someone else should do it.

maybe they should stick to compound interest, time value of money, and delayed gratification.

don't need the overweight 48 year old divorcee high school teacher souring my kid on traditional family.

fricking what?

It’s like people saying why don’t we teach kids about taxes.

we can barely teach them basic math and how to read. The Tax code is complicated.

Also, the legal and financial implications of marriage vary greatly couple to couple.

Because some things should be taught in the home and not in school.
