Why did India not have the rich and successful history of other countries in the region?

Countries like China, Japan, Mongolia, and the Arab lands all seem to have had periods of economic, political, and military dominance of the region. We never hear much about India, and they still don't seem have much of an economic footprint. It seems they would've had an extreme advantage with all that coast line. Was the region never unified until late? Poor documentation? What's the scholarly explanation?

India was by far the largest economy in the world from the 1500s to the 1700s

It wasn't unified by a common language until the British Raj, the caste system makes working together impossible for a society, and Hinduism is backwards, demonic bullshite.

Feces-based technologies and culture never really caught on.

Northern India is still a feudal society. You have a few wealthy landowners and the rest of the population is poor, uneducated serfs. This is the case in India’s two most populous provinces (Uttar Pradesh and Bihar). Each has more than 200M people but is 75%+ rural so it’s a bunch of poor villages. This is where all the crazy India stories come from. South India is supposedly much better because that’s where all the tech offices are.

have you ever looked at median IQ of india?
its estimated to be around 76-80 for the country as a whole....that is right there with pakistan and in the bottom tier in terms of asian countries
many will claim....well if you look at the new studies its closer to 95-100....problem is those studies only look at the educated and those with access to the internet...
when you look at the country as a whole, its almost certain the intelligence of nations study that found it to be 76.4 is much closer to the real number

India definitely has a storied history. It has created 2 different religions (which are delusional like all religions of course) and it really created the letter and number system that India and all countries west of India still use today. It's falsely called the Arabic number/letter system but it's really from India.
It's just failed to develop like other countries have in relatively recent history. It's not that India has really regressed, but rather that the whole world was extremely poor for almost all of human history, and India hasn't gotten out of poverty even as other countries have.

It's the fault of the Brits. India got so used to the British bringing them up to speed that when the Brits pulled out they collapsed back to pre colonial ways.

No unified language and constant war with Islam, China, and Steppes

World Superpower by 2030
Their superpower appears to be convincing countries that importing them by the millions will somehow make them a "tech hub."
