LSU QB Sam Leavitt Says He’s Back To 100% Ahead Of Alabama Game

LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt said Tuesday that he’s back to running at full speed after using the bye week to recover from a hamstring injury.
“Obviously, the hamstring was beat up going into the week,” Leavitt said. “Now I’m feeling really good out there, running 100%.”
Leavitt said he also used the open date to work on red-zone throws, including fade routes, and sharpen his timing with LSU’s receivers.
One of his favorite targets is healthy again, too. Tight end Trey’Dez Green missed four games with a knee injury before returning against Auburn. Leavitt called Green a “safety blanket” and recalled a crossing route against Auburn where he thought his throw was a little off. Green reached out and made the catch look easy.
“He has that look in his eyes saying, ‘Give me the ball,’” Leavitt said. “So when someone has that look, you want to give them the ball. He’s going to go make a play, and he’s really hard to tackle.”
Now LSU turns its attention to Alabama, which visits Tiger Stadium on Saturday for a pivotal SEC matchup. Leavitt said the Crimson Tide’s pursuit of the football stands out on a defense he considers LSU’s toughest test so far.
“Yeah, I think it’s going to be the best defense we’ve played,” Leavitt said. “There’s not really many holes, and their DC does a great job. They play really hard. They go after the ball. So it’s going to be a very emotional and high-stakes game. And I’m really excited to go play against them.”
