Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack knows LSU tight end Trey’Dez Green will present a difficult matchup for the Crimson Tide on Saturday.

Asked about defending Green, Wommack pointed to his combination of size, speed and catch radius.

“They have a large catch radius, right? A guy like him that can run on top of it presents a number of challenges,” Wommack said.

Green recently returned from a knee injury after missing four games, catching five passes for 50 yards and a touchdown in LSU’s win at Auburn. He has 19 receptions for 272 yards and two touchdowns in four appearances this season.

Wommack also praised LSU’s offensive staff for its use of tight ends and said Alabama will need multiple approaches to defend Green.

“So he’ll create a number of issues for us that we’re going to have to find ways to match up, and how we attack a big body in man, how we play them in zone from a bracket standpoint as well.

“Whoever they want to feature, right, you have to find ways to be able to creatively attack them in zone and man, and pressure goes along with those things. And so our answers [are] geared up if the game starts to lean that way.”
