why can’t i change my FB profile photo without having to endure comments from everyone?

it’s frustrating. i’m not looking for everyone’s opinion or approval but it doesn’t appear FB allows this to be done privately. When i make the change, FB sends a post announcing this and everyone feels obligated to make a comment or wants to chime in about your photo selection!

Facebook is designed to create engagement exactly like this. They dont want you to be private and operate privately, its optimized for maximum engagement.
This is exactly why I dont do social media like Facebook, because I have no interest in that type of thing and I dont want to engage with strangers profiles.

There’s an option you can click it to where it doesn’t show on the feed. That’s what I did last time.
