ELLISVILLE, Miss. (WDAM) - A 22-year-old woman was arrested in Ellisville for careless driving while completely nude, accused of being under the influence and found in possession of marijuana and several modified firearms.

On Sunday, July 12, the Ellisville Police Department conducted a traffic stop at approximately 9:39 p.m. on Hill Street in Ellisville, involving a passenger vehicle for careless driving.

Katelyn Maxwell, 22, the driver of the vehicle, was completely nude at the time of the traffic stop and believed to be under the influence of intoxicating liquor, according to the police department.

Maxwell was asked to put on clothes and step out of the vehicle before the traffic stop continued.

EPD officers conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle due to the overwhelming odor of marijuana. In the search, the officers found marijuana, several modified firearms, and possible fully automatic conversion devices.

Maxwell was arrested by EPD and charged with DUI refusal, possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle while in possession of a firearm, careless driving, and no seatbelt.

Jones County Sheriff’s Department narcotics agent Corporal Dalton Ainsworth responded to the scene to assist. He believed several of the firearms discovered were modified into fully automatic weapons.

The vehicle belonged to Maxwell’s boyfriend, Shon Cooley, 24, who lived on Northeast Drive in the Powers Community.

A search warrant was executed at Cooley’s residence by JCSD narcotics agents due to the danger of potentially unauthorized possession or use of fully automatic weapons.

The search of the residence yielded several more firearms that had been modified and additional parts to modify several other firearms.

Cooley was taken into custody at the time of the search warrant and was charged with unauthorized manufacture, possession, or use of machine gun conversion device.
