Umm uptown backs up into the hood not old metry.
The correct answer is Old Metry for more conservative whitey, uptown and garden district for more liberal whitey.
Lakeview is fine but overrated and people there try to act like they are somehow on par with Audubon place yet cant afford landscaping.

New Orleans East is lovely this time of year.

5 pages and no one mentioned the fine living in English Turn.
Just need to have a few mill laying around.
You can do the golf course subdivision or if you can find a piece of property along the river you can call it country living with a New Orleans address.

I love where our place is by the Fair Grounds.
Two block walk to Canseco's, Cafe Degas, Terranova's, The Bell, Santa Fe, 1000 Figs, Swirl wine shop,, Liuzza's By the Track.
Can walk to bayou St john, City Park, Pal's.
And for jazz fest the neighborhood is right there for 8 days and it quiet the rest of the year.

Was on the Old Metairie Commission (which really just covers Metairie Club Gardens) for 10 years (2004-2014) and chaired it for the last 6 or so years. That house was built under my tenure.
